This is the master feedback thread for the Antelope Valley Line: Los Angeles - Lancaster Route Add-On. Support Information: Antelope Valley Line Gameplay Guide
While I would not know the right sounds from the wrong sounds for the F125, they sound really good to me. The alerter sound seems quiet to me, but might be accurate. I did not see anything on the displays when the alerter goes off, or when PCS set the emergency break, when I failed to notice the alerter . This is a issue with minimal hud.
same here…fire display doesn’t show the alerter going off in the fire display…alongside lag…good lag spikes during con fare…idk if this an optimize issue or not…XB series s
Micropauses may improve with a second play of the route (it's caching shaders as you play the first time).
ROTEM CAR CAB VIEW - Early Access Beta report This is almost unplayable for me, and just because of one value in the blueprint we are not allowed to edit. Why do I have the feeling I am standing and not sitting down? The horizon should be a little above the vertical centre of the windscreen, the viewpoint is way too high. Flip the sunscreen and you won't see anything at all. Check from outside where the driver's head is at, his eyes being far lower than the cabcam. F125 is ok. This would be no issue if we could finally adjust the viewpoint ourselves. Seven years, still waiting... So please substract 0.15 from the Y value, recook and upload . Or add a new viewpoint, which is possible for you, you or the subcontractors that produce the locos did so on the Class 45. Suggestion: DTG Matt Create easy to edit .ini files which could store the XYZ values per cam and loco in the Documents folder for example. While I've given up hope for getting that feature (flight sims let you move your cam freely, TSC's blueprints are editable), I do put all my hopes in the great Foobian, adding this to GodMode some day. Cannot upload an image in this thread
F125 FIRE DISPLAY BROKEN: not working: horn/bell icon, headlight icon, PCS icon, Alert icon, function buttons are non working even though they do work on other units.
They are there just for aesthetics (only the alerter is implemented), but I agree that the fact that you can use the switches might confuse players that do not know this.
enjoy tsw4 no problems so far. DTG staff why is fraps so low 38-45 TSW3 50s- 70s my pc i9 32 mem 2080ti play at 4k
I have driven the route only for a short while, departing Lancaster with the cab car. During that time, many scenery assets, such as traffic lights were loading in right in front of you. The cab car sounds really good though, with a lot of rattle and track noise.
Metrolink train is too low in relation to the track, you can see the wheels sinking in to the rails. It is quite jarring when walking around the train or watching it from the outside.
Does the alerter actually work on PS5 on the F125? Turned everything on, but it didn't seem to do anything. The alerter text on screen remained on all the time.
If possible, patch in an unloading pit to the Vulcan Materials siding in Sun Valley, so it can be used....
Is there meant to be a 2nd livery option for the Rotem cab car? In the train selection menu, the picture shows the cab car in full black.
My first play through was nice really enjoyed had a bit of stuttering while doing a run. Did notice the alert sound is a bit low as someone else has mentioned. Thankfully everytime it did go off I caught it, but if you were to get distracted even for a moment you would miss it.
On PS5, there is a sound that is looped continuously for the F125 loco that has audible digital artefact clicks on each loop crossover point. This is audible both outside and inside the cab.
I just played ALV again this morning and just hearing the F125 idling gave me goosebumps. Dovetail sound is improving and it shows. Now just wish they went back and updated the sound for the AC44 and C40-8.
It is not possible to get the platinum medal on the Con Fare scenario (part of the Escaping of LA journey chapter.)
As a few other folks has mentioned. None of the indicators seem to be working on the F125. Such as horn, alerter, bell icons, etc. on the display. Also none of the engine fans seem to spin under any condition on the locomotive. Distracts from the immersion, just a little bit. I'm on PS5.
Any chance someone will go thru the route and fix some of the scenery items? Not to mention scenery is randomly bare in some areas... There is a missing railroad bridge here Cesar Chavez Ave Bridge is missing in the background here, and sticks out on approach to LAUPT
Currently enjoying emd F125. Nice CAT engine sound. Other than that its a very good immersing loco (excluding the safety systems , which i dont use). The only downside i see is the that the traction motors are too loud.
Just finished the first journey chapter, which includes the loco intro and a complete run from LA to Lancaster (in two parts). I am completely unimpressed with this route. Not just the scenario you mention, but the whole thing. First half is similar to SFJ, but with a SoCal vibe (reminds me of GTA5). Second part is a snore fest, Sherman Hill in a passenger loco. Boring! And what's with the odd speed limits? 39mph, 54mph, etc.
I guess the speed limits are true to real life, think someone once explained to me why the speed limit is 79 MPH and not 80 MPH but my memory can't recall. The 12 MPH in and out of LAUPT is also a bit odd, sure it's more than that in Run 8. Need to do a complete run on this route, don't think I'll find it boring per se, the main issue is (again I guess as per real life) you have a 4500hp loco heading up a 4 coach consist which probably weighs about 160 tons. So it is massively overpowered even when you start hitting the steep grades, the main challenge is going to be keeping under the speed limit. Though as an aside, it's a shame Run 8 never added this section to their SoCal network, itching to bring the oilcans down through Soledad Canyon and the empties going back the other way.
A while back, the Feds decided that 80mph and above was the threshold for installing Automatic Train Stop technology. So the railroads bypassed this expense by establishing 79mph as the speed limit.
One possible bug I’ve noticed on the F125. Whenever I release the brakes the Driver Assist message is popping up that I need to select Freight or Passenger mode. Well the dial is already in passenger mode and has been since I departed LAUPT.
Managed to reach Santa Clarita en route from LA. Actually quite liking this route though it doesn't look nearly as polished as Vorarlberg or ECML (repeating buildings and rollercoaster looking highways are two things that stick out). Definitely getting a Los Santos vibe, "All you had to do was jump on the damned train, CJ." Very reminiscent of Run 8 style, too. Challenging to drive as well with some of the stations on quite steep gradients making stopping a bit tricky. F125 getting more of a workout than I thought. Although I moaned pre release about DTG breaking most of the runs in two, I actually think given the length of the full journey that's not a bad thing. This is a route that you probably want to do in stages, break off and do something else in between so with only the one save slot that might become impractical.
Knowing DTG's track record, they will not. But thanks for the screenshots, glad to see I am not missing out much.
I generally quite like the route, but I'm a bit disappointed with the F125 and the Rotem cab car. The model and the sounds are superb, but it seems not as much of care and attention was given to the general set-up, particularly with regards to the in-cab screens and indicators. The fact that apparently none of the indicator thingies on the screen in the F125 are working is a major flaw that has already been pointed out earlier in this thread, but some of the stuff that is implemented is not working properly either. For example that throttle status indicator is not working properly when the dynamic brakes are engaged. When you move the throttle from idle to dynamic set-up, the indicator changes from throttle: idle to dyn. brake: setup. But if you move the throttle further into the dynamic brake range the indicator jumps back to throttle: idle as in this screenshot: On a side note: I don't know whether this is prototypical or not, but I was quite surprised that, unlike the F40 and MP36 from peninsula corridor and the Rotem cab car, there is no indication of the door status at all in the F125 cab. The cab car fares quite a bit better, but similar to the F125, the TMS alerter light is not working. Only the audible alarm is functioning. I think the rolling stock is very close to being excellent, it just falls short on these details, some of which were implemented in older DLC. A final comment on the timetable: it's a shame that they've done that thing where a signal after a station stop only clears when you've completed an objective like closing the passenger doors. A lot of station stops have been set up this way. On that uninterrupted 2-hour run from LA to Lancaster, 7 out of 13 station stops were set up this way. I think Matt mentioned in the stream that this will be fixed, so I hope that his fix is coming soon since I find it really immersion breaking.
The more I play it the more I love it, beautiful scenic route and the distant mountains look great. Thanks for choosing this route, DTG, and exploring territory not yet covered by TSC! Way to go. This route alone was worth the Deluxe Edition, really enjoying it! (Just lower the cab camera on the cab car please!)
As others have mentioned, the indicators like horn, bell, sand etc don’t work on the F125 screen. Also whilst heading north, the road on the left (I believe San Fernando Rd) disappears causing the cars to float, just before the large tunnel.
I'm pretty sure it specifically affects the loading a save game after you've already setup the train. The save remembers the brake state, but that assistant message seems to only be disabled by the event of moving the switch
Anyone else having issues with missing speed signs? I don't have all the specifics, but thought there were a few missing when I was approaching Union station. Not the 12, but the 50/40 change and the 25
Ah that sounds plausible. Only noticed it after loading a save. As noted above though this route is actually rather nice, with a few caveats. It’s what California should look like in Run 8. In fact I think all three of the routes DTG chose for TSW3 are excellent certainly better than what we got last year with TSW3. As regards AVL, looking forward to getting the freight layer on Tuesday and being able to set up an oil can type run up and down the mountain.
The F125 needs to show what dynamic brake notch it is in. Also, the dynamic brake does not apply in minimum service up until about 50% braking on the automatic. Blended braking works no matter what amount of automatic is applied, so long as the independent is not bailed.
The locos from Sand Patch Grade also use a percentage system in a way. The notches on the dynamic brake are just there for guidelines - it is actually a smooth increase, not a notched one.
Is anybody else having problems hearing the alerter when in the F125? It's a bit quiet for me when compared with the engine sounds.
That would be sweet! Give this route some more realism and things to do. Why this wasn't done to begin with?
