Accessibility Any Chance Of A Fov Setting

As titled, i think it’s quite crazy that a game about sitting in cab seats and watching out the window whilst operating said train, doesn’t have primary view settings.

Would help a lot on some locos where I or others find the camera to be in a somewhat strange way.

happy to give lots of extra gratitude bonus points if it could be done on a per train basis and placement remembered each time.

We need to be able to position the driver cam as well because some of the decisions made by the devs as to where to put it are shocking. The cab car in Antelope Valley is the worst offender. I dare anyone to drive the whole route with the sun shade down.

Yeah. Just like it is in any racing game or in Euro Truck Simulator. Adjust your camera position how you like it, adjust the FOV etc.
Make each setting individually saveable for each train and its good.

    What platform?
Unless I have misunderstood, FOV can be zoomed in on all platforms. Certainly on PS5. Granted, you can only zoom out so far.
On PC, use god mode for even greater FOV adjustment with mouse wheel.

I’m on Series x, pretty sure you can only maybe change it in any way on PC, possibly not even that

That’s just a simple zoom in and out function. An FOV slider would change how much you can see from the default view of the camera

100% agree, that cab car I’ve been avoiding myself because of that seat, way too far up.

Options I would like to have in TSW:
    1. Horizontal and vertical field of view.
[not only to widen, but also decrease the view. helpful for some trains]
    2. Vertical position of view (also often referred to as driver seat height).
    3. Windscreen camera (just the front window as a fixed camera setting) - Difficult for some trains with small windows, but it would make sense even if the window would be displayed by a small portion of the screen space.
    4. Windscreen FOV options and/or zoom level (to enhance the focus to the distance rather than the close surroundings).
The last one is actually a bit too expert level perhaps. But to adjust the windscreen only to give better visibility can improve the quality of the game for visually impaired people as well as players who not necessarily want an adjustment of the train drivers FOV or zoom, which changes the visual settings for the cabin and the dashboard.

That doesn't at all contribute to the discussion

Off topic, but does anyone plonk the free roam camera in front of the train window and drive in first person prospective?
    I do ;)

I drive from the cab like a real driver would.

Same. Cab is my home. Personally I think the "first person exterior view" is very strange.

Remember the difference between POV (which my mods are addressing - where your head is positioned) and FOV (field of vision).

Altering the FOV (90 degrees is default) has a big impact on your perception of speed. If you raise it you'll get a fish-eye view and everything seems faster, if you lower it (zoom in) everything appears to move slower.

Anyone remember Hitchcock's Vertigo? He's achieved a great cinematic effect by changing POV and FOV at the same time - moving the camera backward while zooming in - the stretchy stairs.

That’s the preferred choice for me too.
Trains with a limited view like the Class 385 on the Glasgow to Edinburgh I’d probably switch to the outside cab view though.

You can use the built-in track camera the 385 has.

I’ve never heard of that. How do I access that?

Left/Right Arrow keys to flip through different cameras (or Console equivalent). Rivet's stock is always very feature rich.

    I’ve learnt something new today.
I’m going to try that out later. Thanks Spike.

Hold down right joystick and press left D-pad to switch through interior camera views. You should find the CCTV camera eventually. :)

Something like msfs would be great, being able to adjust the exact position in the cab, and being able to adjust the FOV easily
