I realise that the save game feature isn't working properly yet, I have given up on it for now as it hasn't worked for me at all.

However I was wondering why there is not a save game slot per route as in TSC? Is there a technical reason for it?

On many routes, I like starting a "shift" however after an hour or two life gets in the way and therefore if it worked it would be good to be able to save it. It would then be nice to do the same on other routes and save those too.

Is there much demand for multiple saves or is one enough for most people?

More savegame slots would be cool but I guess the devs will tackle this, when the saving is working better and the "feature" leaves BETA state.

Ah I didn't even know that was a thing! Hopefully a TSW3 version might emerge. Thanks.

I never needed more than one save slot.

I use the SAVE feature in two ways:
    a) for checkpoint, in a very long service or scenario: save every now and then, in case anything goes wrong. If it does go wrong, continue from save and try*** to complete the service/scenario.
    b) when you need to stop playing, whether it's for a few hours or more: save, close the console/PC, and continue from save when resuming play. As a matter of fact, I save whenever I need to leave the game paused, since sometimes TSW3 crashes if left unattended for a while. Coffee break, or any other break? Pause and save!

NOTE (***): I say "try to complete" because sometimes game loaded from Save might have something game breaking. It happened once or twice, but very very rare for me.

I certainly would appreciate it, because it would make possible to keep alive a very long drive, like a Clinchfield "turn," while still being able to drive something different and shorter if desired.

Would love to see one per route. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a different kind of railroading and then would like to return to previous runs without having to start them from scratch.

In theory, it hasn't worked for me since they removed it and then returned it!

Also my point was that it would be nice to have more than one save slot so you can save a run maybe after you have completed a service on one route and then save a run on another route the day after.

I am actually surprised that they didn't set it up like this in the first place, unless there is some technical reason why not.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. PCs and 9th-gen consoles have oodles of storage space; and even 8th gen typically allows for up to 30 or 40 saves in games with bulky save files like Cyberpunk and RDR2.

None of it makes any sense. TSW doesn't even use Cloud Saving on Steam when TSC does.

    I have no explanation.

TSC has one save available for each scenario so I don't see why we can't have at least one per route in TSW.

However there has been one improvement in that ignoring your save and doing a quick run on another route doesn't seem to nuke the original save, providing you don't try and save of course!

What would be nice is a Restart from Save option. That way if you mess up, you don't have to drop out to the main menu to reload the saved game.

I've always wondered why that button hasn't been put in the Pause menu, in addition to the Main menu.

I guess it's related to the "only one save for all routes" matter: if you are in the pause menu, then one route is loaded up but the save file could be for a different route.
Both problems could be solved with multiple save slots. Just sayin'.

Well, we've gone backwards with the save game feature. In MSTS, we had multiple saves per route and you could actually choose from a list of save points.

TSC wasn't quite as flexible, but TSW is very limited.

Plus, since TSW2, we've lost the " return to last checkpoint " feature, which actually had some functionality after an unexpected SPAD, although it was limited to PC for some reason.

So now, all we have is an imperfect feature which works some of the time for some people.

I'm glad we have it because it works well for me, but I haven't heard any reports from DTG on the progress they are making on improving it so that it works for everyone.
