are there any mods to make tsc not look like its a ps1 game that preferably isnt payware or something that isnt that expensive?
I mean there is RWEnhancer, i think two choices (i think some debate) RW Enhancer Pro (rwcentral.com) RW Enhancer 2 (rwcentral.com) I've not tried RW Enhancer 2 myself, but there is also AP's Weather Packs (added Clouds which add cost) Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 (armstrongpowerhouse.com) And Also Reshade which is free with many different .ini files (i think there are a few on RW Central and more on Train Sim Community Home (reshade.me) One plugin - one that i use at least - PhUnKi_Ro0sTa's Reshade Preset v7.0 - Train Sim Community (I don't get the "PS1 game" thing, i mean no offence but have you played one? I tried Wipeout on a big tv once, and very blocky compared to TS1?)
Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather EP also comes with improved shaders and much better lighting. It's an absolute must-have, as you'll be getting photorealistic skies. I can't say I found anything altered with ReShade to look convincing, it's just unrealistic PostProcessing imho (some people do seem to like that foggy-lens bloom effect which I do not like.) Also it may affect performance, as it's redirecting the game to use another d3d dll and applies postprocessing, whereas RWE or AP directly replace the game shaders. Take a look at this thread, where many post their used enhancements. Find the best TSC screenhots here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-simulator-classic-screenshots.54151/page-44
Have you seen any PS1 games? I am old enough to remember them, and none looked remotely as good as Train Sim. But I digress, the learned gents above offer sound advice.
Well, to be fair, Gran Turismo pushed the PS1 (which had very low VRAM and no texture filtering) to its limits. It blew everyone away back then. (Especially my generation, coming from Lotus Turbo Challenge and Geoff Crammond's F1GP )
Well, Danny and Spikee, you're bigger and better men than I, I started to write a reply much the same as yours then I thought you know what, if the guy's gonna come on here talking bad about the game straight off the bat then well let him/her figure it out them damn selves. But all that aside I'll bet they're trying to play it on a complete potato of a machine if the graphics are as bad as they're claiming and all the "mods" in the world aren't going to fix that.
I mean i wouldn't be so sure about me there either I mean probably not - but equally have learned the hard way to not react badly (I've done the whole ranting on forums, one route in particular - "Donner Pass" - I think to be polite "I dislike the route" - there is more to it than that though ). Well and my other half having a 5 year old that screams the second you say no to her, I think compared to her (the 5 year old) anything on here is nothing .
The original route came out "a bit bad" (I can't really say much of course, the route wasn't a great experience for me, I think "90 miles of scenery in 4 weeks" kind of says more than i need to say )
I see it was officially reworked after an initial version. (I joined the Donner party later ) I take it you were involved in the rework. Was the original from 3DTrainStuff who did the MSTS Cajon and Donner, and Cajon for RS?
The original was DTG, I think the original was "bad" is probably too polite (and no i was involved with the original sadly - hence the "90 miles of scenery in 4 weeks", I mean the for a route it's not one I look back too, one of the first ones i did but equally London Brighton came out a lot better than that one (the next one on) )
RWEnhancer and ReShade, AP Sky and Weather EP, Cloud EP and Track EP, plus using AP rolling stock. Transforms the sim.
'PS1' is a lazy insult. It came out in 1994 and lingered for ten years, so most people would have to be into their 30s to have any true recollection of what PS1 games were really like.
So that sounds you weren't given enough time. I think most of us are aware of how tough the gaming industry is (even the mighty indie Codemasters were eventually taken over by EA), I think it's even harder now which shows in the constant "beta" releases in TSW (latest example the tiny Euston-MK section with a poor timetable and countless issues). Looking back, the DLC output back in those days was incredibly high. There were highs and lows, and in retrospect I think overall it was good as it laid the base for the amount of content we have now, many routes have been reworked and enhanced by the community, and even low quality stuff brought to a good condition. Problem with TSW is, you can't change anything in a route, only add a layer. TSC's openness and accessibility made it great. It reminds me of the DTM (US locos) discussion. It's a two sided medal. If DTM hadn't done these locos, nobody would have. And I'm often thinking, better this than nothing at all. Always appreciate your and your colleagues' work, Danny. You've given many people hundreds of hours of joy and entertainment. (I'm close to the 10,000 hours mark now )
Ps1 game lol. Even msts don't look that bad! I play it in 4k and that is a major improvement over any other resolution.
Reshade with AP track, AP Sky & Weather, Cloud pack, and AP track texture upgrade from ATS - Default tracks on Feather river enchanced however, along with loco light mods too. You can download reshade and my preset here: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...her/i3946-ph-un-kiro0s-tas-reshade-preset-v70
I'd hope for at least N64 where polygons were smoothed over! :P (joking ) Thank you (i had seen this but didn't want to make it seem like i had ignored it )
