One of the best aspects of Train Sim World is that you can not only be the driver, but also the passenger! To which I think it is past time we saw a night train in this game! The fun of not just sitting down in a seat on a train, but having the option to sit in your own room, go to the dining car for a meal, and lie down in a bed would be a fantastic new experience that would greatly stand out from the others! There are a number of night trains that can be placed on the route in the US, UK and Germany/Austria! Personally, I would love to see American night trains, as they have the all around experience of day-service (coach and lounge/cafe car), night-service (sleeping cars) and dining service (breakfast/lunch & diner in the dining car). Several routes already exist to have night-trains run on: - New York to Trenton: 4 daily night-trains from New York to Miami (Silver Meteor, Silver Star), Chicago (Cardinal) and New Orleans (Crescent). All trains make the same stops at New York Penn, Newark Penn and Trenton. All trains consist of Viewliner Baggage, Diner and Sleeper and Amfleet II Cafe and Coach cars. - Framingham Line: The daily Boston-Albany section of the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago, stopping at Boston South Station, Boston Back Bay and Worcester. - Cajon Pass: Daily night-train from Los Angeles to Chicago (Southwest Chief) making stops at San Bernadino, Victorville and Barstow. Consists are Amtrak's Superliner stock. The Superliner set could be added in as a separate DLC, featuring the long yearned-for railfan favorite, P42DC locomotive, along with a Viewliner II baggage car, Superliner coach, Superliner diner, Superliner lounge car and Superliner sleeping car. In the UK, it would be nice to have the Caledonian Sleeper (from London Euston to Milton Keynes) and the Night Riviera (from London Paddington to Reading). I really think this would make being a passenger incredibly more fun in the game.
Funnily enough they do actually model some of the services in the game, but they don't use actual modelled sleeper cars. They use stand ins with other coaches currently in game. Two that stand out are on Preston-Carlisle there are "sleeper" trains (but using regular passenger Mk3s) and on Kassel Wurzburg there are Nightjet trains including the auto trains that transport the passengers cars on the rear auto racks, but they use regular IC coaches and not the correct sleepers.
NYT also has the Amtrak Silver Meteor service that goes to Miami which would in reality have Viewliner II coaches in addition to the Amfleet ones.
Yes, I have seen them in game, which is why it would be incredible to actually have the sleeping cars in game.
I'd love to have the ÖBB NightJet in the game.. and I mean the actual thing, not a bunch of IC Cars and some car racks.
as a frequent passenger of those I wholeheartedly agree. with the NS vectron or a few years back with the 1116 further into germany instead of the 101 they use now ingame.
The SW Chief on Cajon is a must for me. I want both the P42DC and ALC-42 Charger (and maybe a P32-8BWH). The Amtrak power could also be run on HSC, Sand Patch, and other routes.
Caledonian Sleeper is apparently going to be in with 87s in WCMLS I read. Would like to see the actual thing incl the actual livery though and real loco at some stage.
This would be a great gameplay pack to introduce. Especially to fill in the gaps for sleeper services on GWE (Night Riviera) and WCMLS (Caledonian Sleeper High and Lowlander services)
If only DTG introduces the Class 700 to London Commuter. You can drive the Thameslink during the night hours since it runs 24/7.
Would love the 700 on BML, but it's not supposed to be a sleeper train. Though it maybe is in real life to some extent xD
How about ÖBB Baureihe 1293 Nightjet 2 Bfmpz Steuerwagen. Comes into two versions without the autorack the other has it which perfectly fits Vorarlberg Bahn considering Feldkirch has the facility to unload them. FYI Autorack is DDM915s
700 instead of the blue 377 South eastern trains make them npc only at Victoria. Then we have a service stopping at Earlswood.
Whilst I would to love to see the Caledonain Sleeper in game, I don't think there is enough services to benefit a DLC being made esspecially when DTG would need to make the BR Class 92 and the MK5 coaches.. I would also love to see the APT-P for Over Shap but I doubt it'll happen for the same reason
