Anyone else ever got this error? No logs are created as I'm forced to press the Windows key and restart or shut down my computer. As the error causes pretty much everything to disable. The error is from TSC, I don't even have a drive D:\ as my laptop isn't fitted with a CD/DVD/Blueray drive! I wouldn't say it happens continuously, it happens after I've spent a lot of time in-game and load the screen to taskbar and when I click to open the game up again, this error appears.. I couldn't take a screenshot officially because my computer is disabled except for the Windows key and being able to either restart or shut down.. There's also nothing wrong with my system or drivers, they are all up-to-date and my system so-far hasn't got any issues "Unless, Microsoft stuffs something up in an update or if I use HP updates"..
your graphics card has run out of memory is normally what the vertex buffer refers to. What graphics card do you have.
Nope, it's not my graphics card! It's all TSC related.. I can play any other game Trainz, Predator Hunting Grounds, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, Blender/3ds Max/ Maya/Inventor/Gmax/MSTS/Open Rails all without crashing with that same error.. It's NOTHING to do with anything relating to my computer as stated before.. It only comes from TSC, like the OOM issue that the DEVS are too lazy to fix
That's really unfair, the Dev team have been working really hard trying to fix the OOM's (and other errors) and Steve has been very transparent with us here in the community regarding the progress and the numerous hurdles they have to navigate. I'm the first person to call out DTG or any other Devs if they deserve it (usually regarding lack of communication or rushing releases) but in this case I'm defending them, have you not seen the Beta threads and the posts by Steve (of course you have), you're just chucking your toys out the pram because you're having an issue nothing more nothing less.
Well you asked for help i tried to give it and as usualk your attitude is appauling you are on your own. The sim is stable i cant remember the last time i had ANY error on the sim and i have a lot of mods installed including RWE 2 reshade and tones of 3rd party content. Like reef says all you do is throw your toys out the pram. For someone who had enough of this sim only a few weeks ago you certianly dont seem t owant to let it go.
I have seen this error reported on these forums over the last few weeks. Not to jinx it but I don't recall this, despite clicking all the boxes to reproduce. The usual suggestion is to run the game in windowed full screen. Someone explained there is a specific thing to do by the game when continuing from full screen which isn't correctly handled. With some routes / locos / cameras I end up with funky view until I unpause. It might cause an actual error instead with certain drivers. I also found similar issues with other games randomly, when moving games between monitors with different scaling. (Laptop screen vs TV) Case in point, it's a difficult topic.
As I stated! This error only occurs with TSC. I've never had any issues with other games displaying this exact error, I even looked it up and found only one other thread similar which is also on the forums here.. I can run other games back-to-back, I can run 2~4 games at once, I can run every 3d modelling software I've got 'Blender, 3ds Max, Maya, Inventor, Google Sketchup Pro, Train Sim Modeler, Gmax, 3d Crafter 10 all at the exact same time and work in all of them at the same time without my computer crashing or showing me any error message. The error is 'BUILT-IN' to TSC! Just to make me even more angry with the game.. I'm lucky I haven't bothered buying TSW 4, gosh!!! Who knows what errors that game has.. Again!! IT'S not related to my graphics card or any other hardware on my laptop.. Again, I will state!!! THERE is NO D:\ drive... The error has to be from DX12 Experimental and causing conflict between the different versions of TSC..EVER since the DX12 I've had that issue, but kept ignoring it..
I get this in full screen when I want to do something else whilst the sim is running, usually when I am in the scenario editor and want to google something or check a timetable. My graphics card is quite old, a GTX1060 with 6gb but I would be surprised if it was running out of memory. I can run TSW with little problem. This only started to happen to me when I installed reshade but I suspect that is a coincidence as I haven't seen anything mentioning the two are linked. I haven't thought to try borderless or windowed.
It's not memory, it's not processing an event, so to speak. I'm playing with a 970/980 (don't remember right now) with 4 GB (or 3.5) VRAM.
The error may well be caused by some disagreement between TSC and your graphic card as stated by others. The fact that it doesn't happen with other software isn't necessarily significant - each application has its own subtle ways of doing things - and with TSC being rather elderly it has more funny ways than most. So check your PC hygiene issues first (see below) and then do some structured tests in windowed, borderless and fullscreen and see what you get. Document your results and raise a (polite) support ticket. Hygiene factors (others may suggest more) Have you installed the latest stable gfx drivers for your card? Is your OS uptodate? Have you run a memory test on your hardware (may need to do this at the BIOS level - I'm not an expert) Make sure that your A/V software is not doing autoscans or similar Try running in Steam offline mode Good luck. PS - the reference to the 'D' drive was explained elsewhere as being a hardcoded pathname left in during development and is apparently not relevant to anything.
My OS is up to date Yes, I have the latest version for my graphics drivers installed Yep, done long/short test to my memory I haven't got any A/V software, I just use that Windows Defender.. Seems to do the job!! I used to run Steam in offline mode for TSC, never had any issues!! I think you are onto something there, I'll give that a shot..
Just happen to remember! I won't be able to run Steam in offline mode. I am trying to finish off my route projects, which requires Steam to be in online mode.. But, I'll keep that in mind to switch to offline mode when driving routes
I hope that will help when you can get offline again. I also use Win Defender and I don't see it causing trouble so that's probably not an issue. I know that others have had problems with AVG and others in the past.
If you search for this Error you will find a lot of people reporting the same problem even though they are not playing a Train Sim. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
Nothing much I could do then. Even if I wanted to upgrade, there's just no option for a laptop since the graphics are built-in. Shame my laptop doesn't have thunderbolt 3 or higher. If it did, I could use a second graphics card.
All I can suggest is chasing down and stopping any other background processes that might be using memory - I tend to kill a load of background stuff before I play just on the precautionary principle ;-) Stopping the windows search service (for example) may help as this will chunter on in the background when it is indexing. No idea how valid it is as an idea but may be of help.
Always got edge running! That uses a tone of memory especially with extensions such as AdBlock Plus. Makes sense
Funny that when I said it was your memory usage a few days ago I got a rude reply back saying it was NOTHING to do with memory. Oh and it was nothing to do with your computer so was a sim only problem. Funny you have changed that approach now isn’t it.
Dont apologise its fine. We all get frustrated when things dont work when we expect them to. People will only try and help and it may seem like what they ask you to do is silly BUT it is always worth trying again as sometimes i can be the smallest of things that is the problem. I will give you credit for coming back and apologising but honestly i have thick skin there was no need to do that but thank you. Have you managed to fix the problem ?
No, I haven't managed to solve the problem! I decided just to grin and bare with it. For now!!! I apologised because, everyone here does help as much as they can which is appreciated and I do respect that Edit: Overall, exiting edge altogether does help
Yup - Edge is one of my bete noires as well - damned thing takes up a biggish chunk of memory and is as persistent as an unpleasant disease!
I haven't yet played the game since updating to the recent update. I've been creating materials to use in Blender for my models! Edit: I really like the new Windows 10 update! NO MORE CORTANA.. Sorry, had to shout it out load LOL I always had Cortana disabled and now I can finally remove it..
I hadn't noticed but totally agree - another piece of bloatware from our friends at Richmond. Now to kill off Edge!
Nah! I don't need more tools LOL I've got a lot of 3d modelling software and pc games to keep me happy. The recent update seems to have resolved some problems which is good.. Shame the Tokyo Commuter route is still super laggy approaching or departing railway stations. But, I still love that route
Yes and only after downloading yet another flawed 'update'. Like the OP, there is nothing wrong with my system and TS was working perfectly. With 32GB of RAM and an RTX, memory is not an issue. I thought the whole point of a beta was to iron out problems before release!
