The other day I was playing London commuter on XCLOUD, since I only have an Xbox one x NOT series X I don’t have the SEHS layers when playing, but since XCLOUD run on series X hardware i do see them there! Excellent! But this happened…. I boarded this train and could walk through it verifying that its a set coupled together and that I could walk between cars until time of departure. Then the whole train set took off with me in the Southern part seeing the PIS in the train saying its a southern service. After a few minutes we reached out of service area and i was brought back to London Victoria. A really odd thing to happen. So have anyone experienced anything similar?

Ok. But is it really a real world thing that happens? Seems unlikely, and if it’s a thing, what’s the explanation for it?

The reason for this is that both Class 375/377 use Dellner couplings like the class 171 DMU unlike DMUs Sprinters Turbostars Except Class 171 & Pacers which are BSI coupler equipped. In real life, the WCL Class 150/2 can form a long train with Class 156 158 & 159 155 Sprinters

That’s not really a reason. What I’m curious about is why two companies, not types of equipment, choose to run a service together like this. They are competitors aren’t they?

Joe explained this in a thread somewhere on here and also in the stream where he was present.
Southern borrowed some class 375s from southeastern for a period of time because of a shortage of 377s I believe.
Also, the trains themselves are leased from a company (Eversholt). The TOC (southern, southeastern etc) don't actually own the units.

That seems like a reasonable explanation. And this was at the time this is set? Also there are some SE services rerouted through Redhill in the game due to construction… Come to think of it. This combined train i saw, it was a SE service not a Southern service, so maybe it was the other way around? SE borrowed 377s from Southern?

Pre Nationalisation Southeastern October 2021 was owned by Govia the same company that manages Southern Railway BML & ECW. That is the real life explanation for that.

This isn't unusual even with completely separate companies. OBB collaborates on some routes with DB, and on others with the Czech national railway. US freight railways negotiate trackage rights with each other and sometimes share or cross-schedule traction.
