May have mentioned this one before, but having dusted off my AP Class 40, when going to resume a saved game the loco does not respond to the throttle and cannot take power. Done various tricks to try and get going again, reverser into neutral, key out, key in, reflag the AWS levers but to no avail. AP unwilling to help as the item being withdrawn no longer receives support and the scripting is old (though AFAIR this problem has existed for quite some time). Has anyone managed to get the loco going picking up a save game or can the experts suggest any other possible workaround to enjoy scenarios that can't be finished in one one sitting?
If it's like the Class 40 Mainline which I own, the procedure for saving should be described in the manual. You must leave the cab in a defined state.
I will RTFM! Got it... Saving the scenario 1) Come to a stop. 2) Press the ‘S’ key to move the Reverser into the ‘Off’ position. 3) Press the ‘E’ key to remove the master key. 4) Press the ‘Ctrl+-‘ key to move to the other cab. 5) Press the ‘Ctrl+B’ key to switch in the battery isolation switch 6) Save the scenario. Resuming the scenario 1) Resume the scenario. 2) Press the ‘Ctrl+B’ key to switch out the battery isolation switch 3) Press the ‘Ctrl+-‘ key to move to the other cab. 4) Press the ‘E’ key to insert the master key. 5) Ensure the AWS change end switch is in the ‘On’ position. 6) Press the ‘Q’ key to reset the AWS self test. Surprised AP didn't point me to that when answering my query.
That's probably required due to the older scripts, that handle all the stuff with local variables which TS cannot save, it can only save the state of ControlValues given in the engine blueprint. Reminds me how I miss a new Class 40 and 55 pack! I don't know what's behind the withdrawn VP Deltic - but there must be some talented modeller out there who could do a new model for AP. Especially in these days of 3D scanning software.
Too much messing about. I don't Save Scenarios because of the problems it can cause And I think you are getting your Battery Isolation Switches wrong In Real life a Battery Isolation switch has two states On or Off in 5) you have "Press the ‘Ctrl+B’ key to switch in the battery isolation switch" You should be Isolating the Battery from the locos electrics - not switching it in to use.
Only quoting from the manual, Pete… When I tried the procedure to save, in the rear cab operating the battery switch shut the engine down. Will check later to see if the start up procedure works. Please don’t shoot the messenger. Edit: Update. Well regardless of how the instructions were worded, I was able to load the scenario and after restarting the scenario get going again.
Well apart from when I backed down into Carlisle station to couple up, the stock wasn't present on P4! Fairly certain I installed the stock pack that came with the loco, so sounds like I hit the dreaded AP "additional requirements" syndrome. Will open the scenario in the editor later and drop in a nice 12 coach rake for a good thrash over the S&C! Right ee ho, ready to rock and roll...
