AP MTU HST Pack released - https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/hst_mtu_pack The HST is in the Rolling Stock section rather than the Enhancements section. And there is no mention of any requirements for the pack The Power Cars might be new(ish) and the Mk3s might be the same as those released previously. £29.99
It is finally Christmas: 6 scenarios with the pack. Time to throw TSW in the trash. Running this on the new AP Bedford line makes TSW seem twee!
Purchased and downloaded and thankfully I have everything required for the scenarios. It’s going to be a very HST related weekend as my sister recently bought me the Haynes Workshop Manual which I’m currently working my way through. Got to say I’m really looking forward to the Valenta pack now as it’s that version that I remember from my younger days.
I have been out of the loop for quite a while due to health issues and this put a smile on my face bought and downloaded. Looking forward to working out the cold and dark start up procedure. Great work AP!
Let's hope that now all the major groundwork is done, it won't take as long to release the Valenta. I'm looking forward to that as well... perhaps more than I was for this.
Hi, I have the HST MTU pack. I am hoping someone will do to do a Virgin Trains East Coast Branding version and reskin of 43238 in NRM livery vtec and LNER, and the LNER Farewell train.
Here we go Make sure to install the Extra Stock, it gives you this one for the DT Wagon Pack 2 (and the known modified Kuju HTA-EWS):
I think the generic first class passenger view model is a good idea. It isn't accurate for all of the different refurbished variants but it's good enough. If only they'd done it with the Mark 3 coach pack. It's also good to see that the buffered power cars are better than before. Hopefully they actually work, as on the original it was just aesthetic. Since the RailAdventure livery is included, I assume they do. Currently I'm trying to make my mind up between buying these or the TSW WCML Over Shap. This is probably the more sensible investment, even though I would enjoy the WCML.
TSW will give you a stuttering route that even if done by JT will quickly get boring due to restricted choice of stock and things to do, add to that the ever present core bugs. Disclaimer: This is my opinion only.
Love the weather changes... awesome sky transition on that first SWEX scenario Overshot Tiverton... and clearing up... wow!
But according to the fan boys on Facebook TSC is dead and TSW is the dogs danglies, I see Reef has been schooling them but it seems they're too blinkered to see reason and just ganged up with "moaning" replies, kids eh.
Just let them play TSW and be frustrated, discussing Rivet and circling around the ever same bugs and begging for their Class 91 and so on. TSC is nowhere near dead only because DTG don't actively develop it. It was said to be dead in 2017 already, but it's not and each day you can browse the web and install a new route if you want. The core is stable, unfortunately left in a bugged state but Steam allows you to download any version ever released, so I'm fine with the core updates which brought immense stability and the game is better than before the core updates. Stick with v75.8a, the perfect version. Glass is half full - not half empty. Now I'm dealing with a bunch of angry passengers having overshot Tiverton, not taking the wet conditions into account. Blimey!
Hi Guys, so far only 2 people did the Virgin brands for the HST MTU’s https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/ap-virgin-branding-patch/ https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...locomotives/i3820-virgin-locos-branding-patch
Spikee1975 Please pardon my intrusion, but would you be so good as to advise me on how to get the AP weather to work with JT SWEX. I have followed guidance from other areas of these forums resulting in complete blackout or a black and white version of the AP weather. My current version looks like this:- I understand there is no Time of Day folder within JT SWEX and it uses the TOD folder from :- ?\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JT_AddonPJ\Bristol_ExetervW Am i right in that assumption? As soon as I replace the TOD files in that folder with the AP ones it just goes off on one. Any advice would be well appreciated, your version looks amazing. Many thanks in anticipation.
Craigie-C No worries - you have hit one of JT's corrupt files here. The template route file must be replaced (don't unserz it - if you do, stop it with Ctrl+C or it will eat up ALL your storage space). I've redirected the TOD to RailSimulatorCore which automatically applies AP Sky without copying TimeOfDays. File attached. Clear the Cache (or just delete blueprints.pak from BristolExetervW folder after installing the fix.) Here's the Virgin brandings (ATS), just replacing one texture file (the logo is baked into the alpha channel): If Mr Branson has a problem with that I'll make it Virqin SWEX AP Sky Fix below V
Details of the 6 scenarios will be posted here: https://sites.google.com/view/trainsimulatorcontent/ap-rolling-stock
I love it! I don't have the pack yet but I'd love it if you could send the texture over to me in a PM.
I can recommend the Flying banana scenario on Ap's MMl route where you only have one power car, excellent scenario. Also at last, proper rolling physics! No more going down a gradient and slowing down, huzzah!
Is the power physics right for this pack? I'm struggling to maintain speed on the long 1:200 stretch between Alexandra Palace and Potter's bar when heading north from King's Cross. In fact, it's slowly losing speed all the way. By the time I'm at Potters Bar I'm doing around 70mph. I know it won't be accelerating like a rocket, but I've been on HSTs out of King's Cross and I'm pretty sure it had no problem accelerating along this stretch. I once had my phone reading the GPS speed and it was doing line speed limit through Potters Bar.
Yeah i noticed this too, perhaps the enhancement to adjust to the gradient of a route is oversensitive or not working properly. Wonder if it's worth reporting to AP?
You're not inadvertently running with one engine shut down are you? If not then it's worth reporting to AP.
Hello, I installed the file and cleared cache but now on the scenario mentioned here I have a white screen with a yellow box with Missing Texture in it. Please can you let me know what I've done wrong here?!
Not intentionally, no. I'm just playing the scenarios that came with it, and a couple that I downloaded from ATS. This is also the same if I do a quickdrive out of King's Cross. Both cars seem to be working... as in they rev up, and make all the right noises. I can look in the rear cab at the amps next time to make sure, but I really don't think this is what's going on. I just think the pack is wrong. There's no way this is normal. I mean, come on.. how many of us have been on a HST? There's something wrong with either this pack, or my install. Can someone else try it? Just do a quickdrive out of King's Cross with a 9 car LNER or VTEC set and see how you get on. You should be doing over 100mph by Potters Bar, but the most I've got is 80pmh... but usually 70. It depends on the car you get (AP's +/- 10% power factor I suppose). All I know is that a HST set shouldn't struggle with a 1:200 gradient like this. I just tried it with a Scotrail 2+4 set, which should go like a stabbed rat up that incline, and that tops out at just over 100mph, then simply won't go any faster. When i look in the rear cab, the amps show zero, but the engine is running at the same speed as the driving car, with exhaust etc. Something's not right. I've been on enough HST's on this route in real life... this ain't right. Can someone else just run a VTEC/LNER 2+9 up that route to see if you get the same results? I'd rather confirm this is not just something here at my end before I raise a ticket with AP.
I'm waiting before installing the latest bulk of AP updates. They all are related to gradient physics "as seen in HST (MTU) Pack" - if these turn out to be unrealistic, there'll surely be another update...
Yeah, gonna do the updates later... see if it makes a difference, but none of those updates are actually for the MTU pack, so not sure what's going on there. Just been playing with it again. Kept reloading the quick drive until I got a really healthy one that gave me a full 1800 amps... Best I can get by Potters Bar is 89mph. That's total nonsense. I basically ignored speed limits, just whacked into notch 5, switched DVD off, went to make a brew, and just left the damned thing running flat out on a quick drive.... Potters Bar... 89mph. Definitely broken. I mean, 1:200 is nothing for a HST.
Same, I haven't bought the HST pack yet (saving up for something rather substantial atm) but after reading Pookeys comment yesterday I too am reluctant to upgrade my existing stock, just in case.
If it were me I'd report it without waiting to see if anyone else apart from you and ade2022 has the issue, you paid for it after all!
I'll start a new thread if I get the chance to do some more scientific tests later but trying the updated Class 50 + 9 Mk 2E I lost about 5 mph on the 1 in 200 between New Southgate and Hadley Wood which seems excessive. The Railway Performance Society Horsepower Calculator suggests the drawbar horsepower was only around 1100. Rather low I'd have thought, there may be a bug in the new physics somewhere.
I have just done a scenario 1B91 Lincoln Kings cross on the RSC ECML leaving Peterborough i can get my train up to 108 mph on notch 5 at the 125 mph speed limit then you get a gradient 1:200 the speed reduces to 103 mph by signal 354.Then you start to go downhill to Huntingdon so can obviously reach 125 mph. Same scenario swapping out the two power cars with ts tools for the older MTU pack by signal 354 the train is approaching 125 mph.I also noticed both 1500 RPM. AMPS 749 as opposed to 958
Looking like there's an issue then. If an HST can only reach 125mph on level ground or going downhill, then it needs a service
My guess is it would start off being a HST but would end up being something completely different and unrelated to the original subject.
Ok... all updates done. Why, I've no idea, but it seems better. Even with a really weak example (1600 amps, notch 5 <35mph) it reaching over 90mph by Potters Bar. I reckon a healthy one can make line speed in time. Still think the new gradient calculations are a bit aggressive though. They definitely need tweaking.
Very good. Glad that they are making updates based on information from people who have knowledge of the vehicles.
Hopefully they'll get round to tweaking the gradient correction on the other packs it's been applied to.
Yeah... they really needed to do this. That gradient thing was just over the top. I had no complaints about the brakes, but to have it pull hard on the level, then be totally overwhelmed by a 1:200 gradient was not really that realistic.
I still haven't updated all the rest of my packs and will wait, probably the traction scripts will get updated again now.
If you check the Downloads page, looks like the rest have already been updated, just not added to the update log as such. Their relevant traction script files have date modified files more recent than the update log.
downloading GB's again, unpacking and putting the files into .ap archives on my end. Sometimes I hate AP for this labourous tasks to keep my install compact and small.
