I noticed in my downloads page on AP that each purchase has a ‘last updated’ date under it.

Does this imply that items are occasionally updated and you can upgrade a previous purchase?

If so, I presume you just redownload the file and reinstall?

Thanks, Andy. I never noticed the link for that at the door of the AP page.

Looking at the list (see below image), if you have, say, a 205 or 319, you wouldn’t want to update, if either
    - you don’t have the new 411-2, or
    - you don’t want it replaced by the 411-2 in your scenarios?

You need to carefully decide whether you want to update or not. Many of the updates aren't to fix bugs or to provide new functionality, but to include new AP products in scenarios, which you may not have.

This is one aspect of AP's commercial practices I don't like. I don't mind them promoting new products, but I want to be able to still access the scenarios that were required at the time I bought a product.

I now keep 'archive' copies of the version I bought so I can revert back to the earlier scenario dependencies, but it's a bit of a bother.

Thanks, IB. I haven’t tried any AP scenarios yet: looking at the lists of required DLC, I am not sure if I’m able to try even one of them.

Presumably, though, they will work with the main route and train, and lack of other things won’t interfere too much (eg loss of certain AI trains)?

Clone the scenarios first. This gives them different references to the standard AP versions and therefore DON'T get changed when AP put their latest £25 pack into every scenario.
Bit of a faff maybe, but can also save you getting missing consists or errors

Yes, I don't like the way that AP does updates. I much prefer the Just Trains way by them sending you an email letting you know that there is an update for a product that you have purchased from them. Steam Sounds Supreme does it the same way.

Yes I'm surprised they don't do that, they have a database of everyone who has purchased an item so why not take advantage of it?

An update also removed the Virgin branding from the Class 86 EP. I know it's available elsewhere, but an update is not always a good thing.... check what it is, or whether you want it first.
