What happened to the scenarios which were shipped with the AP Wagon packs? Example 3 scenarios were provided with HHA Wagon Pack. APHHA: 6C55 09:43 Redcar – Drax Power Station APHHA: 4S12 04:15 Drax - Ravenstruther APHHA: 4Z33 09:10 Mossend - Ravenstruther
If they were shipped with the packs when you bought them you should still have them You will still be able to access your download from your account
Like an idiot of course I updated my AP packs since they advertised them as needing updated only to find out that they no longer come with the most recent update. Of course I updated the packs to make sure of all of the integration with rail, weather, vegetation etc. I think it is distasteful that they removed them (and also the Manuals which point to them) from the current available downloads. I have written them a curt letter as I feel that they have cheated me from product which I have already paid for. If they advertise their product needs downloaded/updated I do not expect them to quietly remove product I have paid for!
I would contact AP asking if the Scenarios could be sent to you. If you download an EP pack that has been withdrawn the Branding Pack that comes with it is missing but AP has sent them out to people who have asked.
Probably because the scenarios called for DLCs that were no longer available (e.g. the original Class 66 DLC instead of the current ones), and it was deemed easier to just remove the scenarios rather than upgrade them to use currently available DLC instead
You've just experienced AP's standard business practice. If you want current product functionality you have to accept whatever the current scenario set is.
Thank you for the info. So what you mean is that AP product may not be backwards compatible and that the overhead of providing this capability (even though all of this is AP product) they just don't care about their customer.
If I were you - I would fill out the contact us form on Armstrong Powerhouse website for assistance, Maybe they have older copies of installer with scenarios in them that they might be able to send it to you. Generally I find Richard at AP very helpful and he does his best to assist.
Overall I really like Armstrong Powerhouse but must agree this is probably my biggest problem with them. I just wish they would simply rework some of the scenarios that used discontinued DLC as I want to play them but sometimes don’t own the no longer available DLC. Luckily there is the loco-swap program to use though but in my opinion my point still stands. Anyway sorry that this post is off topic from the original thread question; just wanted to say my piece there.
It is possible the original scenarios that came with the packs don't work any more because the Player or an AI train has changed and is different or not available.
Possible, but not true here. The HHA scenarios require only the Class 66 EP from AP (still available) and a handful of DTG or JT DLC, also still available. My guess is that the scenarios didn't include enough recent AP DLC, so out they went. My advice to players is to make any AP purchases on the assumption of no playable scenarios. That way you won't be disappointed. Either that, or keep copies of your first purchased files, so you can revert to them if necessary.
AP Wagon Pack BAA/BZA - Scenarios Retired APBAA: 6E30 13:29 Dalzell - Lackenby APBAA: 6S58 01:05 Lackenby - Dalzell APBZA: 6V02 18:43 Tees Yard - Margam AP Wagon Pack HIA - Scenarios Retired APHIA: 6O56 03:49 Cardiff Pengam - Angerstein APHIA: 6V44 14:55 Angerstein – Cardiff Pengam APHIA: 6Y49 10:20 Angerstein - Wool AP Wagon Pack HHA - Scenarios Retired APHHA: 4S12 04:15 Drax - Ravenstruther APHHA: 4Z33 09:10 Mossend - Ravenstruther HHA: 6C55 09:43 Redcar – Drax Power Station AP Wagon Pack JHA - Scenarios Retired APJHA: 6A25 10:04 West Drayton - Acton Yard APJHA: 6Y60 09:25 Ardingly – Hither Green APJHA: 6Y91 10:31 Cliffe - Purley
The BAA/BZA pack scenarios, at least, required the original RSDL ex-RS Class 66 pack, which is no longer available. Pretty certain that was the case with the HHA pack ones too. Others may well have required the old RSC Class 37 pack.
Am I the only one who thinks backing up DLC is just good practice as a customer? There is zero guarantee developers will be around forever so I always keep a backup in case they go. If you are unhappy with AP's practice of updating previous scenarios to take advantage of the most recent stock, again, it's simple, keep a backup, problem solved. I would rather they keep their products up to date than do what every other dev does and simply release and forget. It's rare I see any positive comments on here about AP's half regular free updates they do for their packs which they are under zero obligation to do but keeps them fresh and up to date. New sounds for 37 vol 1, recent tunnel reverb changes, projected light now fading in instead of jumping in at sunrise/sunset. Little things they continually update for free with zero thanks on here. I don't quite understand the part about "make any AP purchases on the assumption of no playable scenarios". Just because you're not the kind of person to own DLC to regularly allow realistic and enjoyable scenarios to work, doesn't mean others aren't. AP cater to the realism market. It's unreasonable to expect them to be all things to all people by providing ultra-realism on one hand but keep online scenarios that use dreadful old routes, or provide alternative versions of scenarios using poor quality cheap stock or less AI variety. To be a jack of all trades is to be a master of none. It sounds as though a competing dev is required that offers lo-fi versions of stock but the fact there isn't one should tell you a lot...
The HHA scenarios (at least the version I have from 2018) require the DTG Class 66 V2.0 Freightliner, which is still on Steam.
Some (most?) of AP's products require a very large list of payware for the provided scenarios to work. The first one I looked at (Class 317 Vol 2) lists 22 payware dependencies! Even where a product has, or had, more modest requirements there is no guarantee that they will keep a manageable set if they get updated. Maybe these payware dependencies are usable for some people, but they exceed my budget or range of interests. As I said, my advice is to work on the assumption that the provided scenarios are unplayable and then you won't be disappointed. Yes, I know I could modify scenarios to take out stock I don't have, or swap it with something I do, but for the high price that AP products are set at, I don't think I want to.
Thank you Richard Armstrong who helped me out with this. I will be first in line to purchase the new AP London Bedford rewrite as soon as it comes out! Hats off to AP
I've always found Richard to be very helpful but curious as to how this was resolved to your satisfaction? Were the scenarios you mentioned not present in the latest versions of the packs?
Thanks, good service as I've come to expect. I seem to have overwritten my original packs but I've still got their scenarios installed, time to check I've got those scenarios backed up!
Yeah Richard is quite helpful in these situations - Have saved my day several times. Off topic - I was not aware of AP working on London-Bedford route. I thought that was upgrade worked by guys at ATS? However if AP are working on rewrite then that's good news, The current MML from DTG needs update with longer platforms and several changes to route including electrification north of Bedford and new Brent Cross Station near Cricklewood.
That's great news - finally good place to make use of class 700 EP. Just out curiosity where is above post? I can't find anything on their facebook page.
Ha probably newsletter then I think - I don't why I didn't subscribe in the first place. Looking forward to this release though.
