Now steam is coming and a Dutch route is high at the wish list, I would like to suggest to have a look at the heritage railway from Apeldoorn to Dieren. The length is about 25 km. It is run completely by a group of 100 unpaid volunteers, who are are very competent. They try to recreate the atmosphere o the fifties of the last century.

First, there is a nice collection of former DDR steam engines, even one that is oil fired. including BR23, BR41, BR44, BR50, BR52, BR65, BR80 (not yet operational), two former Polish tank engines. During their annual festival they normally will have 8-10 steam engines operational.

They also own a nice collection of Diesel engines, including the class 600 which looks very familiar to the UK class 08, the class 2200 and 2400 in the old brown livery.

The route has five stopping points, some just a platform,. In Apeldoor and Dieren the line is connected to the main line. In Apeldoorn and Beekbergen there are depots, Beekbergen has a large shed, water columns, coal loading facility at turntable. There is semaphore signalling along part of the line.

Speed limit overall is 40km/h, but there are a number of level crossings with a 10km/h speed limit. There are grades, but not very steep, all less than 1%.
The first part f the line line is shared with a waste processing company.

So a lot of things to do. The route exists for TS, but it is all low poly, which makes it not look to good.

    (Unfortunately in Dutch only).

Excellent idea and regarding the NS class 600 locomotive is Simply going to be reskin from TVL Class 08 Shunter. I wonder if these steam locomotives are equipped with ATB EG/NG or not?
