About The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (reporting mark ATSF), often referred to as the Santa Fe or AT&SF, was one of the largest Class 1 railroads in the United States between 1859 and 1996. The Santa Fe was a pioneer in intermodal freight transport; at various times, it operated an airline, the short-lived Santa Fe Skyway, and the fleet of Santa Fe Railroad Tugboats. Its bus line extended passenger transportation to areas not accessible by rail, and ferryboats on the San Francisco Bay allowed travellers to complete their westward journeys to the Pacific Ocean The railroad officially ceased independent operations on December 31, 1996, when it merged with the Burlington Northern Railroad to form the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway. I really like the idea and would like to have more like this... Sigh :/ not happening, not any time soon, but keep the candle lit in the window.
No, I have not, I sure do hope and would like to see it completed, Yes I understand it takes time to create some of these marvels, Just too many promises with many broken, Honestly, I am more than slowly losing hope on many fronts. I would rather see underpromises and over-delivery. But here we are in August and?
Maybe HIS shows off something in the near future, or maybe Gary does his Gary thing and just randomly announces it done 1 week from release.
As a huge Santa Fe RR fan (it is one of my favorite RRs of all time) We need Santa Fe locos on Cajon Pass or a new ATSF route. I really want the GP35(u), GP30(u), GP50, GP60/M/B, SD75M, SD45-2, SD40-2, F45, FP45, SDF40-2, Dash-8, and Dash-9. Of course, if we get the ATSF SD45-2, I really want the Bicentennial livery versions (#5700-5704; #5704 is being restored to operation in CA; she was repainted into the ATSF Bicentennial livery, which is cool). It's such a cool paint scheme. Also, ATSF rebuilt many of their U36Cs as SF30Cs (basically C30-7s). They also had their SD26s (rebuilt SD24s) and one unique Baldwin VO-1000 rebuild, the BEEP, which is on display in Barstow, CA (I've seen it). We also need ATSF steam power, especially the 4-8-4s (#3751 and #2926 which have been restored to operation), 4-6-4s (3450 and 3460 Hudsons; #3460 is the streamlined "Blue Goose"), 2-10-2s (called "Santa Fes"), 2-10-4 Texas Types (#5000 "Madame Queen"), 5001-Class, and 5011-Class), and of course, the Santa Fe RR's unique and huge 2-10-10-2 Mallets. -New ATSF (or BNSF) route ideas: -Raton Pass; most likely since its the shortest route of my suggestions; steep grades (over 3%!) led ATSF to build the Belen Cutoff. -Tehachapi Pass; ATSF had trackage rights on the famous SP route; BNSF and UP now operate trains on Tehachapi. -Seligman Subdivision: TS Classic has part of this route; I really want this one in TSW4/TSW5; I've driven on the highway (and Route 66) along this route in Williams, Seligman, and Kingman, AZ; the problem: the Seligman Sub is 300 miles long which would require 2-3 addons to get the full route -Grand Canyon RR: ATSF ran their 64-mile Williams, AZ-Grand Canyon branch from 1901 to 1968; now the branch is the Grand Canyon RR tourist line (I rode the GCRY train recently; it's so awesome) -Belen Cutoff -Hereford Sub in Texas -Needles Sub: Needles, AZ-Barstow, CA
Yeah, that would be a GREAT surprise, but it is interesting how the Lone Ranger(s) tend to shine the most, and still keeping the Home candles lit. :update: It is a bit ironic In a way I ran across this article in the past 13 hours roughly. https://www.trains.com/ctr/railroad...generation-electro-motive-diesel-locomotives/
No HIS and DTM please. We already have more than enough of that kind of content though there are still a gazillion of cut-copy-paste options for DTM,TBT etc to kitbash another lookalike US locomotive. Track charts and evaluation maps are needed, since Google Earth only shows the current layout. Those old documents come at a cost from SFHS when not available in the public domain. Since TSW seems to be geared towards the plastic one handle commuter EMU's from the UK and continental Europe, the only US equivalent to me seems CalTrain at the moment. They also run Stadler EMU's. And an extension and full update of the electrified Peninsula Corridor would be nice since the trend with DTG seems to be updating/upgrading existing routes, unfortunatly in the case of LIRR, with dumbed down trains. One can expect LIRR's decision to propagate to the other commuter carriers?
