Didnt want to start a new thread so thought this would do. Alan has put out an update about the long awaited with a video on his group !!!!!!!!!! FLIRT ANNOUNCEMENT AND UPDATE VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi Guys @everyone This post is to update you all on the current progress of the ATS Class 745/755 Project. First of all, I would like to introduce our new scripter for this project; AND Model - Anadolu Model Demiryolları. AND recently released what I can only describe as one of the most complex simulations of a complete locomotive I have seen in TSC as part of 'Taurus Mountains: Ulukışla – Yenice Route' (Avalible here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2009527/Train_Simulator_Taurus_Mountains_Ulukla__Yenice_Route_AddOn/?curator_clanid=958135&curator_listid=43440 ) Since starting on the FLIRT (745/755) Project AND have shown great skill and passion for the project. With AND being based in Turkey the UK systems and signaling, whilst not new to AND, were different from what they were used to. Working alongside our resident FLIRT specialist and Driving Instructor Hayden, AND have already produced some fantastic results. If you wish to see the level of detail that AND put into their DE24000 locomotive I strongly advise you to check out the manual Here: https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/2009527/manuals/ANDModel_-Taurus_Mountains_Route_Manual-_EN.pdf?t=1671529534 So where are we at? Currently, 98 percent of the modelling is complete as you will have seen from the posts from ourselves and Gü Studios previously. This includes the 745 and 755 and their various subclasses. All of the modeling is up to the excellent standard of Gü Studios with the support of the wonderful Clowes for vectors (TMS and exterior), decals, and of course destinations. Passenger views are also complete from an artwork standpoint and are shown in the video. Sounds all sounds have been recorded in-house and will be implemented further down the line Scripting has been started and is progressing well in all areas. The video on show shows the basic start-up sequence and departure with speedset. This doesn't include the full cab mobilisation but a shortened version to show the slightly different driving style of the FLIRTs; in that the PBC is used to apply the amount of traction power applied but the speed is regulated via the speedset. We aim to provide the most true-to-life simulation of the FlIRTs avalible within the restrictions of TSC. The video shown is just a tiny fraction of what's gone into these units already and I hope to be able to bring you more regular updates on the project as it progresses. Please note we will not be giving any release info until we are ready so there is no need to ask. My last thing to say is a massive thank you to all of you guys who have shown a keen interest in this project I know it's been slow for various reasons but I am really pleased to have AND on board. I really hope the partnership lasts long beyond just the FLIRTs Thank you guys for your continued support here to the future of TSC. Cheers
Thought would post this here as it’s related to ATS and the purpose of the thread. Alan Thomson Simulation & Gold Star Trains ® Presents... The VP185 HST Cab Enhancement Pack https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/vp185-hst-cab-enhancement-pack/ I hope you all get as much enjoyment from driving your Paxman VP 185 HST sets with this new highly detailed cab as I have had making it. It's been a labour of love, painstakingly researched, modelled and then raytraced down to every last rivet, washer and screw. I couldn't have done it without Alan Thomson, Pete Mitchell and Kev Mahon giving me a leg up (and all of the ATS team really). The East Midlands Trains HST sets might be gone now, but we can still drive them forever with this specialist enhancement pack. Application Applies to High Speed Train (AP): – East Midlands Trains 2+8 – East Midlands Trains (2) 2+8 – Ex-Midland Mainline Blue (EMT) (VP185) 2+8 – Ex-Midland Mainline Blue (VP185) 2+8 – Midland Mainline (New Lights) (VP185) 2+8 – Midland Mainline (VP185) 2+8 – Midland Mainline Blue (New Logo) (VP185) 2+8 – Midland Mainline Blue (Old Logo) (VP185) 2+8 £12 for non subscribers. Subscribers gets a discount.
If oto's link does not work then this one might do https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/vp185-hst-cab-enhancement-pack/ Edit i see the issue its somehow been dublicated the link
I think he should have asked more for it. ....and before anyone moans about price... the more he gets paid, the more likely he'll make more stuff. People gotta earn a living.
Both ATS sub and the new HST cab are totally worth it in my opinion. TSC has a relatively small but enthusiastic base now and anyone supporting the hobby, especially with quality add ons like this should be supported and encouraged. Can’t actually try the new cab yet as I’m on holiday. But from videos and pictures, I know I want it.
These figures aren't representative of the whole playerbase though, I doubt Steam (ergo PC players) even make up a third of the numbers playing TSW1234 the vast numbers especially with 3 & 4 will be console players.
And I bet most console players will be Xbox who gets it “free” by using game pass. I wonder what console numbers would be if it was removed from game pass
Although I’m currently enjoying a TSC revival (though that in turn has been offset by a renewed interest in Snowrunner), I would say between the current train sims I’m active in: TSW(4) 50% TSC 30% SimRail 15% Others (Run 8, Derail Valley etc.) 5%. TSW still has the edge where the full timetable is concerned, but my renewed interest in TSC largely came about due to the far superior steam driving experience and great routes like the Wycombe Joint Line, the likes of which we will never see in TSW.
I never got why people bang on about this when there are so many real world time table scenarios for TSC available.
I don’t get this either. The timetable is basically the same services over and over again. There are enough scenarios based on real timetables in TSC that I’ll never finish them all and most of the time they’ll have much more accurate stock. I keep trying to like TSW (and I think JT’s route does look very good). But then I see a new scenario pop up on ATS and I’m straight back to TSC. It has cost a lot over the years to get to this position, especially my relatively recent discovery of AP Packs. But I can’t see myself switching mostly to TSW for a long time. As Vern said, for Steam it is vastly superior and there is a lot of really nice Steam out recently.
Certain routes yes. But the first iteration of Glasgow North from Thomson came with a pitiful six scenarios, two of which were with the Class 158, for a route that has electric trains running every 20 or 30 minutes from 0600 to midnight.
A very few. West Highland services from Queen Street (which at the time were still 156’s I believe, not 158’s) plus the Anniesland shuttle. One of the diesel services was the latter, the other a test run to Helensburgh Upper with the 158. Leaving a grand total of four suburban services with the 321. Anyhow this is kind of thread drifting but just making the point that having the whole day’s timetable in TSW avoids that. It also means you can chain services together albeit that is flawed due to problems with the save game failing to reload objective data. An issue DTG still can’t fix or even acknowledge, but again that’s something for another board/thread.
Yes, but you can download new scenarios for it. You don't have to put up with the scenarios that come with the route.
Yes 158s have run the highland line and as well as the new section from Annie’s land to queen street when 156s have not
Well duh, yes just as you can use the scenario editor to make your own. However the point is, whichever way you cut it, six scenarios for an intensive electrified suburban route serving a large city is a rather pitiful offering even compared to other routes in TSC. For example the newish Japanese commuter route came with a much more satisfactory number of scenarios, probably 20 or more. If I was a developer releasing a new route, I'd want to get as many scenarios in there as possible to showcase the line in all seasons and at various times of the day. So sorry but IMHO it's still TSW 1-0 TSC when it comes to that particular aspect.
And if you want realism with those scenarios then TSW looses the battle. What’s the point in having a full timetable with the same stock going up and down like TSW. In TSC you can create a realistic scenario with all the different stock that appears on that run that time of day right down to the wagons. What ruins the immersion for me in TSW is take the glosop line for instance you have the fantastic manchester picadilly but no class 390s, 185s 158s, 156,s it just feels cold and empty. Will tsw get to the same level in terms of realistic scenarios and busy bustling stations... who knows i would like to say yes but that the present time TSC is still leaps and bounds ahead in terms of realism. Yes TSW may have the fancy graphics etc BUT with RWE and Reshade TSC can look on the same level.
