So with the ATSF F7 being a bit of a disappointment for a few of us, here is an idea for something that would be more appropriate for the locomotive, a timetable pack for Cajon Pass. Other 2 retro pack suggestions -https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...ables-for-sand-patch-grade.32739/#post-223392 -https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-timetables-for-the-peninsula-corridor.32773/ For this pack, it would cover both the Santa Fe and the Union Pacific, as since the UP didn't get access to the Palmdale Cutoff till 1996 and it wasn't built until the late 1960's, UP trains had to go thru ATSF's tracks at San Bernardino. EMD F3/F7 While the Warbonnet F7 is the loco we are getting for the current upcoming loco pack, there should be more if a retro pack was used. And that would be in the form of the ATSF's F7's in the Dark Blue Scheme with the cigar band for Freight Services, and the F3 in the Warbonnet colors for Passenger Work. For the Union Pacific, they had more F3's than F7, so some UP F3s would be nice for their side of the timetable. (Though these were later upgraded and renamed F9's but were not F9s https://utahrails.net/articles/up-f9-or-f9m.php) ATSF F3 in Warbonnet Colors ATSF F7 with Cigar Band UP F3s EMD GP7/9/B On top of the covered wagons, some high hood geeps would help round out the freight roster, and add the highly requested locos to TSW (DTG could most likely heavily modify the old GP9rm model for this). Both railroads owned B-Units, so something similar to the F7A & B units could be set up for them. ATSF's Geeps could be GP7s, and be in either the Black and White, or Blue Pinstripe scheme. UP's would most likely be GP9s EMD SD24 Highly unlikely, but if DTG ever wanted to make a new loco for this pack, it would be the SD24. Kind of a forgotten loco between the SD9 and the SD35, but the ATSF and UP both rostered a decent amount of SD24's, (Since they had none or very little SD7/9s these would be a nice fit to round out the roster.) UP had both A & B units. PASSENGER CARS One thing that some people would of liked for the Warbonnet to come with were proper passenger cars for it, could be possible with this pack, but DTG may need to do some decent work to make a believable consist. Car choice would be hard for the route, as the El Capitan ran with the double decker Hi-Levels in coach only service while the Super Chief ran with single levels with Dome and sleeper cars. Both trains were combined in 1958. Which makes setting this up in TSW a nightmare. El Capitan, pre-1958 Super Chief Pre-1958 Combined El Capitan and Super Chief Freight Equipment At most, the only piece of new stock needed for freight trains would be a boxcar and caboose, a simple 40ft Boxcar in ATSF, UP and maybe some other road names would make a decent consist, followed up by an appropriate caboose. 40ft Boxcars If DTG wants to add more, here are a few suggestions. 40ft Flatcar Flatcars were pretty versatile back in the day as they could be changed or modified to carry different loads, such as cable, crates, vehicles, or early TOFC Tank Car An early era tank car would also be a nice addition to the roster. I know its a bit late putting this out now, but this ATSF F7 could of been something more.....
Now this indeed would've been better for the F7 instead of being part of the loco bundle (no matter what people say about values). This would sure make Cajon Pass in another era do it justice.
Bring it on and for UP F3 SD24 & Gp9s these can layer to Sherman Hill 1950s 1960s then Denver Rio Grande and Western Cane Creek 1962 assuming they have them
The Santa Fe only had 20 SD40s though, so not much on that roster, and the SD40-2s were built starting in 1972, and by that time the ATSF started turning the F7s into CF7s
That is a great suggestion!! I really do think this should happen. With those other locomotives that you suggested, they would’ve been a great bundle, but the thing is that there are already 3 other locomotives in the bundle for other routes, so they are possible to release later.
I should probably make a separate thread for this, but is the new Santa Fe F7 not a seperate timetable? I'd be ok with seeing em now and again by choice, but I'd like to the option to not see them without having to uninstall the DLC... [edit] Though I just saw it said on the TSC discord news channel that the F7 doesn't introduce any AI services. Does that mean they won't appear unless the player is driving one?
Technically speaking, it means that there are no AI only (non-playable) services for the F7. Nor do they sub in to other BNSF services that's already on the route, just layered into the timetable with its own services.
