Just wondering if you will be considering doing any Australian routes in the future, like say from Melbourne to Adelaide, Sydney to Brisbane, Sydney to Perth via Adelaide (Indian Pacific), Adelaide to Darwin (The Ghan)
No license in a recent stream. Matt is very interested in Australia, but Australia is saying no so they can't create routes yet
Best hope might be something produced in the editor once it’s fit for purpose and people have a greater understanding how to use it.
I've seen some documentaries about the Ghan and the Indian Pacific and this would be an interesting attempt for various reasons. It could be boring for some people to drive hundreds of miles through the australian desert on a straight line, but it also could be very cool if the train experience itself would be better and more realisitic than we have today in current TSW. The idea maybe even would be worth a game on its own. If we for example got to chance to swap to an employee, to cook or to serve food to the AI in the Ghan or a worker to maintain and repair the train, that would be cool. It also could be a good chance for the first very long route in TSW, as it does not require a lot of unique 3D-modeling for the desert part. Copy & paste enviroment would be okay if its made good. Yes, licence problem. But as Vern said it could be a cool thing for people to make in the editor.
For years people have been saying "Australia can't be done" because of licensing issues but I've never seen one statement from DTG confirming this is the case. Could someone officially from DTG confirm or deny this please?
They have stated on multiple streams in the past though i do wonder how often they ask, who they ask and the last time they asked.
Yeah, I'd love to know this also. Iv'e spoken to the media team and other applicable teams at Sydney Trains and they don't recall ever been asked about licenses.
Below is a link to one reddit post that clipped what matt said. Idk if it will work or not. But they are planning to talk to operators but licensing is a challenge. One of their team members is a big fan of Australian railways https://reddit.com/r/trainsimworld/s/ON4j06gdSA
Spot on and here's another issue with Australian routes they tend to vary in Track gauge Standard Gauge NSW NT and Interstate railways followed by Cape Gauge Western Australia Tasmania Queensland Irish gauge Victoria and South Australia. Training Centre needs to support those tracks otherwise back to in route tutorials TSW2020 & TSW 2 era
Thanks for the link rennekton! After watching the video I'm a little more optimistic of an Australian route but I wont hold my breath.
I agree and I've also suggested the Mandurah Line since 2021. Oddly Wellard Station has a Woolies right outside the exit.
And that's odd because.....? Quelle surpise, a suburban train station is right next to a suburban shopping centre...
That's what Wellard station on the Mandurah Line a combined Railway station and Shopping Centre. I wonder if the editor can make that Complex the Railway station and Shopping Centre
Two seconds on Google Maps shows it's not a combined station/shopping centre (and even that wouldn't be particularly amazing), it's just a normal train station across the road from a normal shopping mall (there's even a pub/bar and a bus-stop in between them) in a normal suburban neighbourhood. Again, nothing "odd" in the slightest
I would love to see a Pilbara Iron Ore route with big GE or EMD diesels hauling massive amounts of iron ore through the Western Austrailia desert. An Aussie ES44ACi and ES44DCi, SD70ACe, and AC6000CW would be awesome to see.
I'd really like to be able to assemble and run the record-breaking train of 8 AC6000CW locos and 682 ore-filled cars (7.3 km long, 99,734 tonnes). I'm especially curious about 1) how fast it can go and 2) the stopping distance after seeing how fast it can go.
I agree and remember the game will treat the Pilbara SD70ACE as a Sherman Hill Cajon Pass version in terms of Achivements
