    Hi!
DTG just announced the Semmering railway in their stream and also launched TSW4 with their first Austrian route. I wanted to share my thoughts on all Austria-related things in TSW and hope to see more!
    • S-Bahn Vorarlberg - My favourite route in TSW, after Linke Rheinstrecke. I like this route because it has so many opportunities for services like IC trains with a 1116 or the 4024 and there are big yards, border crossings and even the old "Formsignale". The route is just easy to drive and very relaxing = a lot of fun for me!
    • Bahnstrecke Rosenheim-Salzburg: Salzburg is one of my favourite cities and i like the main station very, very much! Going over the river Salzach, you can see the castle "Hohensalzburg", which is very iconic for Salzburg. Over the border to Germany, there´s Freilassing, a place with a very interesting train museum (which i visited already a lot of times!) Railfanning at Freilassing is very awesome, there are Railjets, Flirts, BR 628 and so on.... - I think it´s going to be my new or my 2nd favourite route!
    • Semmeringbahn: I hoped that there´s new stock like a 1144 or a 1042, because with livery designer, creators club and formation designer you can easily create a 1116 with IC/EC yourself (AND EVEN WITH 1ST CLASS COACH!). I haven´t researched much about the route and don´t really know if there is a good service variety like on Vorarlberg. I wait for preview streams or more material to decide on a day one-buy....
For the future I really hope that there´s a Railjet coming (in TSW4 not 5) and a Reihe 1042 or a 1144 with CityShuttle coaches!

What do you think? Write your thoughts and I will update my thoughts when new Austria-DLCs are on its way....

Can't wait for the Semmeringbahn! The first Austria only route and one I use in real life quite often.

Of course, as an Austrian, I like all of them. Vorarlberg is great and and Salzburg - Rosenheim looks promising.

I wonder in which year the two new routes are set. It has to be at least in the 2010s (Salzburg Liefering under construction, and Talent 1 on Semmering). The Austrian Dosto for Semmering would be great (until this year those were used on REX Services from Vienna to Payerbach- Reichenau.

Quite impressed that Austria is now the genuine 4th country in TSW, having several trains and routes, if even if only partly in Austria, its more than France ever got! With Japan coming as well we are starting to get a longer list of countries covered finally.

Defintely want a railjet, and of course a nightjet :)

This one could be interesting secondary to the mountain running at the west end. Speeds in the 70-80 km/h range, then doing 140+ at the east end.

I've got to be honest, and say that i'm only buying Salzburg for the DB111.

Love German routes, but absolutely no interest in Austria.

Vorarlberg - also one of my fav routes

Rosenheim - Salzburg - was hoping for sth more to the west, as Salzburg - Vienna is basically THE busiest in Austria

Semmeringbahn - Wiener Neustadt - It's in the game! lol :D I am hoping that 1116 gets just a tiny bit of polish so when RailJet comes... oh man... should be interesting route, not cos of the mountains solely, but also cos it is one of the main lines towards south, aka Italy and Slovenia, so it has a lot of traffic going on :)

my wishlist still craves Vienna content, RailJets, 1144s, but also CityJet Desiro ML trains, those are like synonymous with regional/commuter travel in Austria besides 4024/4124 and some occasional diesel... CityShuttle would be fun cos those had control cabs :) but the crown for the coolest regional consist goes to Taurus + modernized Wiesel dostos aka CityJet dostos, all in matching CityJet livery :)))))

Most notably the stream mentioned that RSSLO is getting into TSW content. They are responsible for almost all austrian TSC addons, so they hopefully have plenty of materials that can be easily converted (models of stations, houses etc) and research done for a lot of vehicles and routes as well.

So happy that Salzburg-Rosenheim is finally announced for the 27th! I'm looking forward to drive the br 111 or the Austrian trains on the route! I am also glad that DTG made the Rh 1116 layer into when its released.

But I have one question about Semmeringbahn - do you think that the railcar at Semmering station will be included in the route? Would be interesting to know!

Why wouldn't it? It will be very likely a static, unmovable model. The only questions might be about its interior, whether you can look/go inside.

they didn‘t though, as far as I know it was Railworks Austria (RWA) which did the city tunnel and the route to Bratislava (think it’s called „RWA Nordbahn“) not RSSLO. Also RWA made the railjet and the good 423 model (in stark contrast to DTGs efforts) in TSC.

It‘d be awesome for Austrian content if RWA were to hop on to the TSW Train.

    I need a railjet and a ÖBB 1216. That's all I want, DTG.
    Aside from the Swiss Mainline.

Allowing myself the tiniest bit of anticipation I did the 90-minute drive from Lindau to Bludenz today. Apart from the awful mountain pop-in, I enjoyed it. The thing that makes it a tad boring though, is that there are hardly any oncoming trains. In 90 minutes, I encountered only a BR 612 and the Swiss Flirt in Lindau and beyond that only the Austrian Talent a few times.

Has it been confirmed that the Taurus from Semmeringbahn will layer into Vorarlberg? In real life, doesn’t the ICE drive here too?

Yeah since the timetable change in December there is an ICE from Lindau via Innsbruck - Munich to the Ruhr Valley. Usually it’s an ICE 4. also there are railjets and Westbahn trains between Bregenz and East Austria. And maybe some IC/EC also, but not sure.

Vorarlberg could definitely use a Fernverkehr upgrade :D

Hopefully they’ll layer, the base edition routes usually get a lot of love (usually). For traffic volume it depends what time you do a service. I did one yesterday (REX 1 to Lindau at 16:20ish) and it got pretty busy towards Germany. Usually when you get to the midpoint you’ll see the OBB services stacked pretty close together.

The traffic does really die off between Bludenz & Freidkirch though, which is a shame.

I thought the MRCE 182 was supposed to be subbing those services, unless it’s just NJ.

MRCE is in those EuroNight services in Vorarlberg in a weird front dual traction... this will be legit Taurus, with different doors and remodelled cab and sounds, if DTG's own words are to be believed :) I think it was Matt who said that in Semmeringbahn thread...

Id say Swiss is pretty much in there thanks to Rivet, but ‘genuine’ is being used in the sense that the country is being focused on, France is certainly not since it has one DLC.

No, if the countries are being actively developed.

Switzerland for example is a ‘genuine’ additional country because Rivet actively produce content for it.

So, Salzburg-Rosenheim is an absolute masterpiece of route I think. Salzburg Hbf is very good recognizable and I really like how its made in TSW, it shares really good Salzburg-vibes:love:

And also the Semmeringbahn looks very promising, with the 1116. The sounds of it really remind me of watching it departing a station when I was younger - first time DTG awakened my emotions;) The only thing I already knew, that they won´t include the railcar at Semmering station - wouldn´t be DTGs style.

I would also like to know if the Austria-trend is ongoing, if there will be new routes or locos (RAILJET is wanted!) which play in Austria!

I am happy to have Austria. Never been there IRL but I want to some day, from a TSW point of view it feels mostly like Germany but with nicer landscapes.

I visited part of Austria many years ago and really enjoyed the experience. Very friendly people. Unlike Germany the trains were actually comfortable with cloth upholstered seats. Food was great and the scenery superb. I loved Germany as well but for me Austria had the edge.

Railjet isnt RailJet without a cab car... it is Taurus + 6 carriages + cab car... 8 cars, around 200m in length... other countries have EMUs like ICE, Austria has Railjet as its flagship train thing... without it it is just regular IC train... yes, they could do Taurus and whole thing in RailJet livery and have it go 230 kmh, but then fans would burn down DTG's servers lol

BR 101 is a different case - it doesnt always have a cab car, and it is not really branded in such way always... RailJet is how it is and thats also its brand - Taurus has Taurus-shaped cab car, new Vectron-headed ones now also have Vectron-shaped cab car

if they were to do it without cab car, it would be fraud on fans, so in that case they better not do it at all

plus... two days ago when I got off my train from Bratislava, I saw a double traction RailJet for Vienna - Budapest service - 2 full sets of RailJet together... over 400m of pure train awesomeness :)))

In the case of that one the first half goes to Frankfurt am Main Hbf via Hauptstrecke München Augsburg Schnellfahrstrecke Mannheim Stuttgart Ulm the rear section splits for Zürich Hb via Vorarlberg & Arlberg Bahn Innsbruck Hbf to or from Budapest Keleti.

Considering DTG's last releases, for Railjet DLC, you can either expect Taurus + 7x first class carriage.. or Taurus + 7x cabcar.

that would still be way off - RailJet is, as far as I know, the only consist (along with NightJet, ComfortJet and other offshoots) to use Siemens Viaggio carriages, which are built for 230 kmh, have pretty wide doors and very recognizable suspension, also branding - business, first, second class, second class quiet zone... and again, as far as I know, literally no one uses this unique consist as their flagship service, it is pretty distinct

like yeah, DTG is how it is, but I dont believe they would have the balls to botch this one... this particular kind of train is sth where they can show they still got it :) once they make it and get it right, they can start bringing more Austrian long-distance stuff into the game, as they can put RailJet in most Austrian routes

hopefully Railjet will want to get involved and that may help push DTG to top standards (include the cab car),

It’s simple, no cab-car included with the Railjet = no reason to buy it. I personally can’t imagine not having a full set, we were already upset they didn’t included the cab-car when they released the BR101 with its IC wagen. I pray that DTG won’t do the same mistake twice…
