There has been discussion over the use of automatically generated timetables instead of actual ones. Personally, I’ve never noticed the difference. What are the main problems with automated timetables? Does it have an impact the on red light problems or AI SPADS?
The main problem people have with autogenerated timetables is cuz it is calculated by the ai and how they drive. It doesn't account for driving realistically. AI trains don't use safety systems and have simplified physics. So if you are late, it is your fault and you get penalized for it. The real timetable allows you to not rush everything, drive more realistically and give you some room to set up, etc.
The problem with the AI is that it always drives perfectly. It can go from 0 power to 100% instantly (the AI does not need to hold the A or D keys for 1 or 2 seconds). It has simplified physics, so it can usually accelerate and brake faster and with reduced or no adhesion penalty (it does not simulate rain or snow conditions). The AI does not use any safety systems, so it does not have to care about the speed restrictions for the PZB magnets, etc ... The end result is that the AI usually produces a timetable that is not possible to follow by a player. This is why DTG now uses a real life timetable as a base to make the in-game timetable instead of auto-generating it by the AI, and the improvement is very noticeable.
The thing which grates me with AI timetables is that you end up having to arrive or depart at random seconds within the minute whereas in really life it is done to the full or half minute not for example 22 seconds into the minute like it can be in game.
