Hi everybody. After some frustrating rides, I want to suggest to add (a working) autosave function. Sometimes you play a very long time and for some reason, you fail to complete your task. For example your shunting and your too fast at coupling. Or you pass a red signal. Or you miss a station and can't go back. I would suggest intervals of 10 minutes, so it shouldn't interrupt the game to often but still you save a lot of time when you have to reload. Autosave should be turned off by default and only turned on if the player wants to use it. So those who don't want it because of realism aren't affected. What do you think about it? Sorry if this has been proposed already. Cheers!
Dovetail never have autosave in their games, as they are incapable of listening to what players want. Their main objective is to launch ever more DLC which each cost as much as the base game. I gave up on the original TSW after a year of frustration with almost no progress fixing a badly broken base game. Just got base TSW2 via Epic who had it on a free offer. So far in a couple of days playing I've had 2 unreal engine crashes which lost an hour's playtime each. Now to be fair, it's not really DTG fault if the unreal engine crashes but it is entirely their fault that there's no autosave. It's not like I even did anything wrong. and yeah, I know, you can save. But it would be simple to have the game save every time a task is completed, and you could even have a switch to turn it off for the purists.
As for realism... I've been doing yard work scenarios. I've watched this from the US on videos: they have a second man on the job, who rides on the back of the train setting switches etc., while the engineer stays in the cab in control of the train. Kinda unrealistic that the second man sits in the cab and does nothing, while the driver has to run around all over setting switches and uncoupling cars.
Or it could ask if you wanted to 'restart' from the last checkpoint or task you completed perhaps? I'd love this feature. Not needed much but when I do make a mistake it's handy to have
Good idea! Once I was approaching koln in a dB br 442 From aachen and I didn’t save the game, and it crashed. I was only 750 yards away from the completing the service!
