Avelia Liberty is a high-speed train model developed by Alstom, a French multinational company specializing in transportation and sustainable mobility. The Avelia Liberty is part of Alstom's Avelia family of high-speed trains and is designed for the North American market. The Avelia Liberty is specifically built to meet the requirements of Amtrak, the national rail operator in the United States. It is intended to be used for Amtrak's next-generation high-speed rail service on the Northeast Corridor (NEC), which connects major cities along the eastern coast of the United States, including Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C. The Avelia Liberty offers several features aimed at providing a comfortable and efficient travel experience. It is equipped with modern amenities, such as wide seats, spacious interiors, onboard Wi-Fi connectivity, power outlets, and large windows for panoramic views. The train also incorporates advanced safety systems and technology to enhance passenger security and improve operational efficiency. One notable aspect of the Avelia Liberty is its high-speed capability. It is designed to reach speeds of up to 186 miles per hour (300 kilometers per hour), allowing for faster travel times and reducing congestion on the busy Northeast Corridor. This enhanced speed and performance are achieved through features like lightweight materials, aerodynamic design, and advanced propulsion systems. The Avelia liberty is due to enter service later this year
Doesn't fit either NEC Route's time period (certainly not Boston, as it now has a new/restored station on it). Plus, it's not in service yet, so quite a fat chance of it happening until it's in service.
Yea ,his train has been delay after delay. We first need this to finally be introduced into service and see how it goes. Come back in about 3 years .
The avelia isn't in service until 2024 because of delays caused by problems with the route and train. That is if everything goes to plan. It could get delayed further. During the time nyt is set, the avelia does not run. Also another thing to note is that it is only going at 160mph, not 186 like you mentioned in your post
Really excellent idea but if you want a 2023 2024 route you might as well introduce it with the New Haven line NY Penn/Grand Central to New Haven Union Station that. Alongside M8 M2 Metro-North Code K AC DC trains basically the American equivalent to the British 387 700 710 377/2/5/7 375/6 & 378 trains and German DB Baureihe 474.3 490 EMU.
