Aws Isolation Lever On Uk Locos

From playing the AP Class 40 in TSC, I recall the AWS isolation switch is only present in cab 2. For selecting cabs, the Change Ends switch is used.

Why are both present (and therefore not making sense) in each cab in TSW?

For the same reason this is posted in general discussion rather than technical reports. Someone took the easy option and made an error

Not the same reason. If one would be that picky you could move half of the threads in here to TR.

I would post this in Technical Reports if I was sure it was a bug. I am not, this is a general question if the depiction is true to life.

    They probably should
Nah, if you were asking a question you wouldn't have said "and therefore not making sense"
    That's a statement.

Either way I'm fairly sure DTG made an AWS control asset and then put it in both cabs, probably to save time and in a "I'm sure nobody will notice" fashion, and given it doesn't break anything (other than immersion for those who know otherwise) it's likely never going to be looked into or changed

There are loads of little things in this game which are just not quite right as most people know by now

    Just did some googling...

    http://www.class40motherlist.com/BR33003.html

This website claims to have real life startup and shutdown procedures for a 33, and references an "a.w.s. key"...
First I've heard of that and wonder how typical that is for older locos retrofitted with AWS

There are a lot of shortcuts, also the battery cutout is usually not just a selector on the cabs backside ;). I guess here we enter the area of modeling stuff which isnt used primarily to drive and where devs would loose 80% of the time for implementing it realistic.

For the aws, i can live with its current implementation. But for example the wsr cl.09 shunter is based on a cl.08 dual shunter just with different gearbox.

If you compare both DTG was lazy as hell on the cl.09. Basicla ALL features are missing. Its one of the few vehicles i like but cant enjoy in tsw. (Brake system not modeled well, cocks not modeled, overcharging.... basicly all things the 08 has, were left out. Not worth the money (same for the green 47 and its poor sound).

Whenever I’ve needed to use AWS I’ve always found it’s always in cab I’m using, if theirs 2 levers I activate both, never had any issues that way.

Thanks for your answers, I was suspecting it's not prototypical - not that it's a real issue for me. Just DTG.

You mean entering inside the engine room which is actually missing on class 47 also the same situation the engine room for the battery switch just like SBB RE482 DB Baureihe 185.2 MRCE Baureihe 185.5 & Railpool Baureihe 185.6 which has battery isolation switch engine room not the panel behind the driver. If they want to do this they might as well visit a facility that has a working Traxx example Société Nationale Chemin du Fer Belge HLE 28 Bombardier since a Belgian train driver uses the engine room to actually start up the locomotive for the battery and then go to the cab to activate the pantograph. Same thing for a British Railways crew in the 1980s go to the engine room find the battery switch on Classes 31 37/5 40 45 & 47
