Cheers everyone! I have done a few suggestions in the past, but they always have been a bit... well, let´s just say small and uninformative. Today I would like to make a suggestion for this really amazing route, that would fit perfectly into TSW2! It also was published for the TS a few years ago by Aerosoft. So here we go: General information on the route: The route is part of one of the most important railways in Europe, the corridor Rotterdam (Netherlands)-Genua (Italy) that runs through four countries: Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy. Especially freight trains are running here, but also a ton of regional and especially long distance trains. The part we are talking about is directly above the swiss border, from Basel to Freiburg im Breisgau. On this section of the route there are about 300! trains per day, including ICE, IC, EC, RE, RB and a looooooot of freight. The route itself is about 89 km long and most of the line is equipped with LZB. Freight trains usually take 40 minute runs, regional trains from 40 to 60 minutes and ICE around 30 minutes non stop. Regarding the speed limits, most of the route has a limit of 160km/h, a small part even 250 km/h. But the most important part is, that (like on BRD) there are two routes on this line! This map shows the route from Karlsruhe to Basel, but the part we are talking about is from Freiburg to Basel at the bottom. As you might have noticed, there is a small green line called "Katzenbergtunnel". That is a 9385 m long tunnel with the 250 km/h speed limit. Most of the freight trains (about 140 per day) and all the ICE,IC, EC and a small amount of RE services (about 60 per day) run through this tunnel. This tunnel was opened in 2012 to avoid all the trains running through the villages on the old line and to be faster, but even today a lot of freight trains and most of the regional trains run on the old line. And if the Katzenbergtunnel is closed, then also the ICE and other trains run on the old route. Before we go on to the other parts of the route: I would set the route in about 2015/2016, due to more interesting trains back then. Stations on the line: Freiburg (im Breisgau) Hbf Freiburg St. Georgen (Line from the freightyard coming in) Ebringen Schallstadt Norsingen Bad Krozingen Heitersheim Buggingen Müllheim (Baden) Auggen Schliengen (with split of high speed line through the Katzenbergtunnel and the old line) Bad Bellingen Rheinweiler Kleinkems Istein Efringen-Kirchen (exit of the Katzenbergtunnel) Eimeldingen (connection of high speed line and old line) Haltingen connection to the freightyard Weil am Rhein Basel Bad Bf Trains running on this route: Long distance: ICE 12 (Berlin – Braunschweig – Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe – Frankfurt – Mannheim – Karlsruhe – Freiburg - Basel (– Bern – Interlaken Ost) ICE 20 ((Kiel –) Hamburg – Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe – Frankfurt – Mannheim – Karlsruhe –Freiburg - Basel (– Bern – Interlaken Ost) ICE 31 (Kiel – Hamburg – Bremen – Dortmund – Wuppertal – Köln – Bonn – Mainz – Mannheim – Karlsruhe – Freiburg – Basel) ICE 43 ((Amsterdam – Duisburg bzw. In my opinion this route has to come to TSW. It is a more rural line, has a very long tunnel, almost only LZB and high speed limits, along with a ton of trains and two very big stations and freight yards. I can only recommend this route to everyone who hasn´t got it for the TS classic and would love to see this one in TSW2. But what do you think of this route? Have you got a different idea of rolling stock on this route? Have I forgotten somthing? I am happy to read any reply Cheers! (Pictures and informations are mostly from Wikipedia)
