Hi all, what are your thoughts on a Bakerloo Line remaster? I know, it’s a route you either love or hate/ignore, but: since it’s northern part will be updated to the newest standard in regards of lights, suspension with the new WCML, it would be nice if the entire route would be remastered, especially as there are no plans on layering the new WCML on older routes said in another thread. The new route hopping feature may let you benefit from the upgraded northern section but still “hopping” to the original route at QPK would imped immersion (at least for me, if you’re doing an entire journey from HAW to ELE). Also this could be a quite “easy” remaster as most of the work is already done. The tube/pipe section would just need some new monitors, mirrors and stopping marks.
I’d love to see this happen - it’s a great route IMHO but the lighting now is terrible and I just can’t play it any more. Way too dark in the shadows. Oppressive and headache-inducing
Some stations would have to be rebuilt though, the three stations south of Queen’s Park suffer from clipping issues and the gap between the Piccadilly Circus platforms far too big
Personally I would say absolutely no to the remaster of this route. I'd rather see an NTP, TVL or even BML focused on.
If this is remastered, I would love for the platform screens to actually work Although the current setup is good for now.
Its a shame they chose to build the game this way that it cannot be updated as a whole rather than all over the place.
I'd like to see Tees Valley remastered, it has more rolling stock variety than Bakerloo, I guess some of that will get upgraded for WCML.
Yes I’d love to see Bakerloo remastered. Personally, I think it would’ve made more sense to upgrade this before GWE especially as half the route will be updated for WCML anyway.
There's a few issues that need sorting on the Bakerloo Line, and yes it would be nice to see it brought upto TSW5 standard with WCML AI and the overground sections being overhauled. But it would probably be last on my list, I'd much prefer NTP and BML to get the remaster treatment first as they are larger and more complex routes. Once the other routes were done then I feel it would then be a good time to start...
Isn’t it already being remastered? At least the overground section with ECML. The rest is underground and doesn’t need remastering. The stations are pretty good as they are and, as for the tunnels, they don’t really need any work doing. I suppose that they could add the improvements to the existing Bakerloo for those who only get the free TSW5 upgrade.
I was thinking about this when TSW5 was announced, my conclusion is that yes it would definitely be deserving of a remaster. Main reason being how this is one of the routes that could benefit the most from the new lighting and features e.g. suspension and reflective signage in the tunnels, we also now have most if not all of the AI traffic required to fill out the above ground section of the route. I also feel that without a remaster, the release of the WCML would dissuade players from touching the BKL timetable and the route would suffer a silent death, why would you do an hour run on the original BKL up to Harrow with poor scenery compared to today's standards and a complete lack of traffic on the adjacent WCML, when you could do it in the new version which is much more immersive and even comes with a free 1972TS. Those thoughts considered, it would definitely be a shame if this route doesn't get a remaster, it's one of the most unique routes in TSW and was one of the most highly requested routes in the early days of TSW iirc. I understand that people may disagree and instead suggest other routes such as BML, NTP, TVL be remastered first but I feel that those routes are so prominent/mainstream and include important rolling stock that can be layered that they will inevitably be remastered at some point, whereas BKL can easily be forgotten about especially with the release of the WCML, and so should be attempted sooner than later. I might make a master thread for things to be included in a remaster similar to the GWE one because there's plenty of things I can think of which would improve the experience of this route.
Yes and as others have said. It’s a good opportunity to add AI traffic on the WCML. The underground stations already look stunning but I definitely agree with working mirrors at the end of each underground station. It’s so strange and unrealistic seeing only the headlights appear on the mirror. Like some sort of ghost train…. They could also throw in some Rats in the tunnels…. And puddles here and there (The Rats and Puddles is half a joke and half serious)
As much as I want a remaster too (having imitated this thread) and agree with the raised aspects of improvement areas in the pipe and furthermore fear that the route hopping disrupts the immersion (is even the same timetable implemented inWCML and BKL?!), I fear so we don’t get a remaster anytime soon. Why? Simply because - as already delineated by others above - it would have been relatively easy for DTG to remaster it for TSW5. Which has not happened, at least not in the tunnel section. Soo I bet, DTG left it out on purpose…? What’s your take on that?
I thought it was getting remastered, why would they put a route in the special edition if it does not have TOD4 lighting etc? Be like buying a fruit platter thats fresh except for one apple that is years old decaying.
From a personal point of view I think the Bakerloo line should be one of the very last routes to be remastered - if even at all.
DTG probably feel the same way where they would like all routes upgraded, but when they look at how much DLC they have released their heads explode, with some devs cowering under the desk in a fetal position mumbling about too much DLC to upgrade
Yes and if the Bakerloo gets upgraded to tod 4 then you can have leaking tunnels in high def. Wet tracks in tunnels needs to be fixed, the tunnels walls themselves need an upgrade, the texturing as you travel along isnt the best, the stations themselves are pretty good considering how old the DLC is. Fantastic news it is getting joined up to Watford and beyond.
