Hi, I have spent days trying to catch a barbel on the grand union canal with no success. My first mission was to catch all species in the canal and then move on to the trophy fish. As barbel are the last species on the list I have tried to fish specifically for them. During this time I have caught all trophy roach, rudd, bream, tench and carp but not a single barbel. How do I catch them? Is there a specific rod, reel and line combo or hook size that unlocks the barbel? I've tried different baits, locations and times of day. I'm at a loss as to why one hasn't showed up yet!
