Just starting out on Train sim, so a very basic question. I will be running the sim on a PC, once the main program is installed from a disc, I intend to buy the Tees Valley Line as an add on. This I understand can only be downloaded, which is not a problem, but do you have to be online to play the game once its been registered? I do not want to have to go online every time to use the game.
Good decision. The Weardale and Teesdale Network is one of the best routes imho, and there is lots of Workshop scenarios for it. Regarding your question, you can run Steam in Offline mode, and play without connection. But Steam Client needs to be running. Are you playing Train Simulator 2022 or Train Sim World 2?
Since the OP said disc version, one would guess it's TSW as they also posted in the PC section there under a post about TVL.
Thanks for the reply. Yet to buy the game, so still looking for advice. It may be a dumb question, but what do you mean by Steam client needs to be running. The PC I will be using only gets connected on rare occasions, downloading TVL & Registering the game will be almost a one off.
It's hard to answer your question as it's not clear which train simulator you are talking about. If you mean Train Sim World, then you are on the board for a different game. If you mean Train Simulator 2022 (TS2022) then you are on the right board. TS2022 can be run off line, but I don't know why you would want to.
Do you mean this Tees Valley Line - https://store.steampowered.com/app/...ine_Darlington__SaltburnbytheSea_Route_AddOn/ Or this one? https://store.steampowered.com/app/277777/Train_Simulator_Weardale__Teesdale_Network_Route_AddOn/ Two different routes for two different games When I go away to Europe I have TS20xx on my Laptop which means I can use it in my Hotel Room. If I connect to the internet it might cost money. Why do you need to be online in TS2022?
You don't need to be on-line, but there are benefits if you are. You can access the workshop in game. You can access the Google maps overlay in the editor. You can enjoy the loading screens, and especially you can see your winning screenshots in the loading screens!
For me, I don't use the Workshop in the game as it is too flaky and I have no use for Google Maps in the game. But some people will find those items of use.
Just that. Once you've got everything set up you don't have to be on line to run TS but the Steam client does have to be running- if it isn't and you start TS from its desk top short cut say the first thing it will do is start Steam. I agree that it does seem that you're asking about TSW though which is a completely different program.
