Tell me this is the very first time that TSW actually opening to door to restroom on the new sprinter route. But probably not a walk in. Many may not be fascinated with this but I guess it get the job done. Get up out of your seat and take a peek at the restroom. Well there you have it. They may add restroom door to all trains.

Not sure what you mean, but there have been some WC:s on Just Trains WCML.

Think it’s a first for TSW. I believe SimRail beat them to it, though generally speaking you don’t spend much time out of the driver’s chair particularly in MP as the “bot” will boot you if it detects you’re out the cab when you should be driving.

There may also be a practical consideration. When the 153’s were converted from 155’s, one of the precautionary measures taken for sending single car trains with just one engine out on remote routes, was a means of topping up the engine coolant by dropping water from the toilet cistern header tank into it. Though more likely just pure happenstance and simply something to tickle our humour!

I think "accessible bathroom" means that it's wheelchair accessible, not that you can enter it in TSW.

That’s a shame then, if only for a “Flushed” scenario where the engine has conked out and you need to go in the loo and operate the valve to top up the coolant.

The 153 having an available toilet I wonder what that actually mean. Does actually mean you can actually open the door. Or does it mean something totally different

DTG have worded this really badly, relative to TSW.

IRL, the 153s were banned from much of the network due to not being PRM (Person of Reduced Mobility) standard compliant. This includes the toilets, where a standard train toilet is essentially the same size as a wardrobe, an ‘accessible’ toilet allows for a PRM passenger (such as a wheelchair user) access to facilities with appropriate space for any challenges they may otherwise face using the non accessible toilet.

DTG are including both PRM & non PRM versions of the 153, so when they say ‘accessible’ they don’t mean you, as a player, can access it - just that one of the 153’s includes a certain type of WC.

What's this weird obsession of the community with bath rooms? While it first seemed like a funny running gag, i now feel that it became an obsession for some.

Lol no. When the article says the train has an "accessible toilet" it simply refers to the fact that it is easily usable by a disabled person in real life. Not that it is actually openable in game.

I've never understood this obsession with having a functional toilets on trains in the game. It does make me think of someone as a bit of a saddle sniffer when they bang on about it so much. It is just not necessary...

On the topic of the 153 toilets, as others have said I think this has been misunderstood... The word 'accessible' only implies the type of toilet onboard is accessible to those in wheelchairs, meaning the area on the train the toilet vacates will be either larger or smaller depending on what sub class you have. So you will only get the size of the outside of the toilet, not the interior fittings.

It's long been a running joke, DTG would go through how realistic the trains are, and then some smart arse would pipe up ""do the toilets work"" to which DTG have always maintained that they would not go to such lengths. The other longstanding joke has been the forthcoming Eurostar Route to TSW, which isn't coming because its never been announced, but members of the community have tried over the years to piece together evidence saying otherwise, the situation was made funnier when Skyhook Games placed Eurostar drawings in DLC to fuel speculation. Its all kinda funny.

Nowhere do they say you'll be able to access the toilet.

The key line in the article is "Naturally, this means the 153/3 also has an extra blanked out window visible on the exterior."

It will be the usual closed door WC that they have on all the trains. Just the blanked out window on the exterior.

Could be something for the guard mode to check into the lavatory and if it's too filthy in there you could either clean up a bit or lock it to the passengers. It's how it works here in Sweden at least ;)
