I don't know anything about Australian capital cities, but I'll vote for Toowoomba as the city that looks best in all caps, because it looks like a comic book sound effect. TOOWOOMBA!
Gonna guess these are state capitals, countries usually only have 1 state capitals is foreign term to me so you’ll have to forgive, I can only think of the US as having them mostly, and their usually not what you would expect.
Between just Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane, which I visited, I loved staying in Brisbane the best. I haven't visited Darwin, Hobart, Canberra, or Perth, so I can't say whether I'd maybe liked either of them even better.
Perth. It has the same name as the Scottish city of Perth (which I've visited before), and is also the most isolated city in the world.
Aaand tooodaaay Ladiiiess and Gentlemeeen on theee offf tooopiiic foruuuum weee haaaave Hyped ? Really hyped ??? (It's the Off-topic forum you better be hyped no ?) Welllll... Almost there !! Another post where I'm still searching the purpose of it. Seriously...
I've been to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, all were great, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Melbourne.
Unlike the US though, the Australian state capitals are all the largest/most important city in their respective state/territory, so they're all going to be the names you know (if you either follow world geography or international sport). Sydney is the only one I've experienced really as a "city", since I live ~2 hours away and visit multiple times a year for various reasons. Brisbane/Melbourne/Hobart/Adelaide/Canberra have pretty much only been on holidays or one-off trips, and never been to Perth or Darwin.
sport no, world geography yes but not much for Australia tbh, I know some cities but probably couldn’t name all the state capitals, not a single place would I be confident in guessing for Tasmania for example.
The cities I listed are all of the capitals (we only have 6 states and 2 self-governed territories), chances are by process of elimination you could work out which city matches which state.
Canberra is the independent city kinda of deal and that’s about it, never heard of Hobart before tbh. I know the other city names but yea wouldn’t match them up by knowledge to each state, would definitely be guessed.
Canberra is both the federal capital (ie the capital city of Australia) _and_ the capital city (effectively) of the ACT (Australian Capital Territory, similar to Washington DC). Although, there's not much else in the ACT apart from Canberra and a national park (it's smaller than Rhode Island in the US), And Hobart is the capital of Tasmania, FYI. Sydney NSW (New South Wales), Melbourne VIC (Victoria), Brisbane QLD (Queensland), Adelaide (SA South Australia), Perth (Western Australia), Hobart TAS (Tasmania), Darwin NT (Northern Territory)
