What on earth is 'Rickroll'?

 

When you got “Rickrolled” it means you’ve been trolled. It’s a well known meme let me show you an exemple.

I wanted to show you what’s being rickrolled is but it appears there’s some technical issues

 

Saw a YouTube clip of the Foo Fighters playing in England, and they brought out middle-aged Rick Astley for a pretty good hard-rock version of "Never Gonna Give You Up". Dave Grohl: "We just rickrolled 30,000 people!"

 

Ah, a great song is that, good old Rick! So essentially you tell someone it's a link to something else but you actually send a link with Rick?

I suppose as they say you learn something new everyday!

 

Not necessarily by sending you a link to that video but by exemple I’m telling you I found this item you wanted, then I show you the total opposite and I laugh about it, you got rickrolled. This is super common on YouTube with supposed leak of future console or games by exemple.
PS: yes I agree it’s a great song I heard it quite a lot if you know what I mean lol.

 

Sadly it doesn't quite work when you get a youtube ad! XD

 

Huh… that’s really annoying especially when you have an unskipable 30 seconds ad, for a 10 seconds video. The joy of being on YouTube on mobile phone

The real question is...
Does it count if you get an ad? Or do you have to watch it for it to count?
