Doesn't really matter. Most fish are caught at fairly close range - 15 - 30 yards, so probably go for a rod that give you more control in making the ranges you want to fish at. I find there generally isn't much need to go for the ultra long range rods as I rarely fish at long distance and trying to use this type of rod at mid to short range just means constant over casting. Line, you'll catch 2lb roach on 25lb or 60lb carp on 25lb, fish feeding physics mean that really the only thing you need to worry about is having line strong enough when you do hook something large, so always go with strong lines. Sadly the game when it comes to targeting different size fish doesn't rely much (or not at all) on trying to tackle up to target certain species. It felt like it did a long time ago but with recent updates you could fish using chain and still catch 1lb roach.
