Really any rod and reel will catch the big fish on the game. It's really about the line you pick. 20lb line will catch any fish you want to target carp or catfish. My personal setup for carp and cats is Sonik S4 Rod 12ft paired with Sonik tournos 10000 reel with Korda 20lb touchdown line. Hope this helps.
Donkey is correct, the main thing to get right is the line strength, if you can always use 25lb you won't go far wrong...i've tried all different rods and caught big cat on all of them using the 25lb line.
