Finding the Bidstack system is either empty of new ads or has fallen over... every Bidstack billboard now looks like this which is making TSW3 rather Orwellian (particularly at Kassel station). Not bothered about having the ads in the game so I'm happy to leave Bidstack on but it would be nice if it would show us them properly for immersion's sake.
Same here. Not that it matters but seeing Bidstack in big letters on every route does start to get a bit irksome. At least if the system is down, have a system to display random posters from the built in selection…
Surely it just ought to fall back to the ones crafted for the route if it can't detect the ad server?
Excuse my ignorance here, but can’t you just turn it off temporarily in the settings? I know there is a setting there somewhere as I don’t like adverts so did it myself and I only ever see the original DTG fake ads. I’ve been playing on console recently which doesn’t have ads (yet) so don’t know if that will work.
Turning off Bidstack does as much to solve the issue as choosing not to drive does for solving a flat tire. That's just ignoring problem, that doesn't do anything to fix the server connection issue people are having.
I'm seeing this issue on other games that use bidstack - so it may be a bidstack issue rather than a DTG issue
Be funny if they had gone belly up! Time to remove the feature from the routes that include it, in that case...
I'm reminded of several games that attempted ingame IRL advertising back in the mid 2000s, and how not one of them has functional billboards now when playing them on my series X in backcompat mode because the advertisers moved their servers or closed down in the last two decades.
It's being fixed atm, combination of issues on both sides. Under normal circumstances, if an ad isn't available it will show the default ads in the game so its not obvious - but while the issue is being diagnosed it's set to show these bidstack boards. Not sure why it's doing it on the public build but there you go - fixed soon. Matt.
It wasnt all bad. I never had the luck to see a real advertisement, but at least now I could see the placeholder and I know where they can appear.
I'll often see a billboard, bus stop bench, or what have you with the name and phone number of the owner when there's no ad posted. "To advertise here, call xxx!" So just seeing Bidstack's name in lieu of ads could be considered realistic.
