This (see thread title) is my current method to deal with the situation where a lot of bugs don't let me enjoy driving the trains in TSW 2. But I'm still interested in giving constructive feedback on how to improve the game. I'm using details of train consists and platform lengths from the scenario planner, but when it comes to driving I'm doing it with TSW 2020. I started with the Peninsula Corridor route and plan to do all other routes step by step. My notes are pasted into a large spreadsheet, and currently I'm trying to optimise the tables so that it'll be quite easy to spot conflicting details. Some of these conflicting details and other flaws have already caught my attention, and I want to share these results early. First of all, I was not really satisfied with the options available in the scenario planner: - I found that there are various methods for naming the locations. They are named using either track or platform designations, but I'd like this to be more straight forward and always refer to the track rather than the platform. - Also, at the terminus stations and the yards there's only one track for departures and one track for arrivals. This is really too little and should be extended asap. - Destinations that share a track with a starting location have to reflect the direction of travel, which means they must not be directly behind the departure signal for the opposite direction! - Specifically on the Peninsula Corridor the platform length for departures in San Francisco is too short to support a Baby Bullet service (platform length at track 4 = 174m, MP36PH consist = 176m). - Track 4 in SF also isn't the track most commonly used for the Baby Bullet, which would be track 11 in timetable mode. (Btw: How do passengers in California know which track is which, as there are no plates showing the platform numbers? I'm willing to assume the artists just didn't get enough time to implement such "insignificant details" ...) But there are also flaws in the timetable, that may be overlooked when you just drive those services without taking a lot of notes. A quick glance on the data of the o.m. timetable shows this: - Service 221F seems to happen thrice at various times (6:10am, 7:10am, 4:30pm), which has to be considered a mistake. - Similar mistakes exist for services 150F and 195F, which can only be done following services 150 or 195 respectively, but not twice at various times. - A service 264 doesn't exist on the timetable, so another one named 264F is probably wrongly named. - There are similar deficiencies where the naming of services is inconsistent. In general, depot services on this route are designated by the number of the basic service followed by the letter F. For most gamers this may be nitpicking, but it all shows a lack of attention to details and flawlessness, and I'd really like to see this improved.
