Nobody likes a situation where they can't make lots and lots of money, hand over fist, like old rope, etc... Making money is a wonderful thing. And one way to make money is to sell stuff. But to sell stuff, sometimes you need to pay for advertising, to get your product noticed in the market-place. But.... what if.... what if.... What if you could get a load of free advertising..... completely free....? And what if that advertising was able to specifically target the people that are most likely to buy your product.... the friends of people that have already bought your product......? Well the good news is, that because Train Sim World is sold on the PlayStation platform, and via Steam for the PC, that there is an in-built free to use targeted advertising system in Train Sim World, known as "trophies" on PS4, and "achievements" on Steam. But the bad news is that this system is completely broken in Train Sim World. It probably once worked. Maybe it worked for Railworks when they first sold it on Steam. Someone had to find out how to code the achievements, they followed the instructions, and then the achievements worked. But since then, maybe a few things have changed, so the original code no longer works with the UI. And maybe the same code was transferred over to Train Sim World (with minor porting changes specific to PS4), and maybe the PS4 trophies initially worked, but now they don't. LET'S MAKE LOTS OF MONEY FOR DTG.... Yay...! Fixing the achievement and trophy system has the potential to generate massive cash benefits to DTG, increasing revenues, with no advertising cost (just a few minutes to investigate and fix the broken code). However... there are a couple of potentially unwelcome side effects to fixing the trophy/achievement system, such as: - greater customer confidence that the Train Sim World product works as intended (which raises expectations for the future); and, - a small amount of pleasure for customers when they achieve their trophies/achievements (which is pointless, because "smiles" do not make cold hard cash, as we all know....).... ....although neither of the above two side effects are important at all, of course, not compared to the vast amounts of extra cash that DTG could generate for itself.... if it could send free marketing messages (trophy notifications) to the friends of existing customers, and generate more sales, and more profits. Please fix the trophy system in Train Sim World - not for the sake of the players, including small children that want to get interested in trains and cry when the trophies don't arrive (as described by one angry parent in the Forums) - do it to help DTG's Chief Financial Officer buy his/her next sports car, which is a much more worthy cause.
