Hey everyone, hope all is well. The Blue/Grey Class 117/118 reskin from https://www.vulcanproductions.co.uk/dmu.html requires the AP Class 101/117/121 Sound Pack (Pro), which is no longer available. From speaking with a few people, I understand that the .bin files need to be amended so that, instead of pointing to the AP sound pack, they point to the sound pack from the North Somerset Railway Class 117, which I understand the reskin is based on. Previously, 749006 (Peter) was kind enough to assist me in rebuilding the whole unit, but I ran into some issues with that. I should stress that I am not tech-savvy at all. I have downloaded TS Tools and opened a few .bin files, but I am having trouble locating anything that resembles a sound file within the reskin installation. I can see audio files for various locomotives. I’m more than happy to make the changes myself—I just need to know, for example, which file I should be looking for and what it needs to be changed to. Many of you are very tech-savvy, and I’m not, so please bear with me. If someone could kindly explain how I go about this, I would be very grateful. Many thanks again!
The sound files will be found in an Audio Folder for the trains you are looking at. For the 117 it is \railworks\Assets\DTG\NorthSomerset\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class 117 In that folder is Class 117 Engine Sound.bin - double click on any .bin file and it will create an .xml file You can then edit the file with Notepad++ The problem with the 117 is it uses the Sounds from the AP 101 and there are no sound files for it in the folder.
Hey, thanks for your help on this.. so just to recap, current view is Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NorthSomerset\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class 101 Not seeing any Class 117 in this path. However I am see the Class 117 in this path Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NorthSomerset\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class_117 and there is NO audio folder. The installation added a NSR117 folder under Assets\VP\
The file is called Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class 101 because DTG were lazy when the train was made. In the Class 101 folder you will see files that end with .dav - these are audio files the game sees. You need to use DavDecoder to extract the sound file to hear it Download from here. https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/entry/31-dav-audio-decoder/
