I would love to see this route made for TSW3, based in the modern era allowing also for past era loco hauled trains between these two locations. locations including Water Orton, Nuneaton, Hinckley, Narborough, South Wigston, Leicester, Oakham, Stamford and Peterborough. Including 1st Gen DMU's, class 31's mk1 and 2's coaches and modern day Sprinters class 150,156,158 etc. Also including Leicester train depot and the yards at Peterborough and the cement works at Ketton.
It would be a very interesting route, especially with the Leicester to Peterborough section being mechanically signalled. Personally set in the 80's with 31's and mark 1's on the New Street to Norwich services would be my preference.
I think your stock suggestions are probably too broad for a single DLC, but spread over several in some form of "diesel legends" type pack... maybe The only concern I would have is whether the track layouts would be similar or applicable over that large a timeframe. It's likely a good many goods yards were fallow, then ripped out and turned into car parks over the periods mentioned
Yes I traverse the section of line between Leicester and Stamford to watch (and I can say this with pride) Nottingham Forest at home about once a month so do know it very well and also know it is a rather busy (for both freight and passenger) and beautiful line. I must agree that it would be so much better with the 31s and mk1s in an era appropriate setting as the route looks very different these days particularly at the Peterborough end.
Bring it on to the game and in reality this is the link between Birmingham Cross City Line Midland main line and East Coast Main Line south. Basically you can have a freight train from Cross City Line to London King's cross by switching at Peterborough
