my previous thread mentioned NTP not loading, well after trying everything I dumped my PC and spent $3000 on a new one. Bliss oh Bliss everthing worked great for a day, I steamed a class 8 all over SOS. Then as quick as it came SOS crashed out never to work again. I reinstalled Steam etc twice stil no go, So I did a complete reinstall of windows, everthing on my PC. Guess what SOS still refuses to load. I would like to get TSW3 with the new steam routes.. but once bitten
Sounds to me as though Windows has done its favourite trick of replacing the GPU drivers you installed with the ancient ones in Microsoft's archives. Explore in that direction and see if it helps.
D3D Device error is a windows driver fault. Unfortunately Microsoft likes to replace the (perfectly functional) manufacturer ones with their own basic ones.
Very good point! This behaviour can be stopped/changed but I haven't googled for an solution just yet, guess it's somewhere around "Settings -> Update & Security -> [...]" Have to add, I've seen it happening but never happened on my system (Nvidia)
Well today I opened a completely new Microsoft account and did another complete reinstall of my PC, just waiting to see if it works....
Once you have done that: 1. make sure to install the latest version of the drivers for your graphics card. 2 make sure windows is fully updated I assume you have no mods installed. Also make sure not add any startup settings to the game, especially the DX12 setting. If this all does not help, it is likely you have hardware issue.or an issue in some Windows setting. For instance it happened to me that the memory cache was set to a low value, which was not very helpful. I also bought an expensive computer but the SSD drive sucked and turned out to be unreliable. I replaced it with as Samsung SSD and all problems were gone. Maybe easiest is to return to the shop where you bought it and let them find out what's wrong and do not accept them to blame TSW for that. I do not see it a useful action to reinstall Windows multiple times. That will not be very helpful.
ta, no nothing worked I'm doomed... it worked good for a few days before all this trouble, I guess I will just have to play on without SOS, every other route good
Hey - moving this post to Technical Reports. Sorry you're having issues. https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com...896131-troubleshooting-technical-issues-guide ^ This is a pretty encyclopedic guide that might help diagnose/solve all manner of issues. If you follow the actions in the article - and things still aren't working - then please contact our Support team and we'll try to help
done it all tried it all SOS crashes everytime, I gone back to TSW, The Bakerloo Line, the USA one and the Euro one work perfect so do the GW, TPR TT Somerset can I get a refund for TSW2?
JD, this will not solve the issue. There must be something wrong with the computer. It is very unlikely the issue is in the game and in this case the support desk cannot help. The advice I have given above is all we can do in this case.
It occurs to me that we're talking about TSW2 here, and that a couple of patches were just released for the TSW3 edition of Spirit of Steam. Is it possible that some cross-contamination occurred?
Well that's what I thought that is why I spent $3000 on a new PC, all was well for 1 day then SOS crashed again, well I say crashed, it will not load at all.
I understand how annoyed you must feel now. Did you try other routes? Are these working properly? I still think you need to contact the company that sold you this PC. Hopefully they are very capable. The other thing is, you can file a crash report and try to ask DTG to analyse it. If you are lucky one of the tech guys can do something for you, but I have doubts if anything will be solved soon.
the Bakerloo line and the USA and other new route ( in the other paks folder) are showing and playing great. I always can get into WEst Somerset, GW plays just about all the time, TPR I have to go into GW then "change routes". When I did the complete PC reset I created a new Microsoft account so MS could not remember and download held settings. I've been setting PC's now since 2000 never met anything like this. Any way I can use the Steam Engines by creating scenarios in the other routes, the steam was what I wanted for SOS so all is not lost. I use HP computers ' .
