I moved my files from my SSD to my computer so I could start/install TSC! But it did not allow me so had to delete all files again and now trying to install from Steam. and start the game from there but the problem is that I have DLC from RSSLO on the external HDD so only the Steam files will be install. It said that I had not enough space. I moved the TSC from the external SSD on another computer and there it worked. Do I need to have twice as much space on the harddrive so I can move the files from the external SSD and then install from Steam?
You should just get the game running on your new drive and test the DTG/TSC stuff then install third party DLC RSSLO files can be downloaded from your account and reinstall them again. Same applies with most third party payware like vR and Aerosoft.
I have not done that on my other computer and on that one it worked without any problem so I wonder why it is not working on this one.
Sounds like you have been lucky up until now. Steam likes to make its mark on your pc for record keeping. As mentioned before make sure the base game is working first. Once done it is possible to just move whole assets and content across. No guarantees tho. Only sure way is to unpack your Steam content first validating the file structure. If you then want to try moving stuff from your drive over you may still be lucky. I usually do this the long way just to be sure.
I have saved the Railworks file on an external SSD(Always the latest version of TSC) with everything I have installed on TSC and what I did is that I put the Railworks file in common in the Steam file and then I just wanted to install the starting files on Steam so I should not need download the game and add all the RSSLO DLC again. I have done this 3 times before on my computers with bigger SSD 2-4 TB and that have not been any problem. The game(TSC) have started without any problem but this computer(Laptop) it said there were not enough space. So I do not understand what the problem is here.
When i want to put back my back-up I just clean install TSC on steam. Start the game once and then close it right after. Then completely delete the RailWorks folder and the .acf appmanifest file. Copy the RailWorks folder from my back-up back to the Steam folder. Copy the .acf appmanifest file from the back-up to the Steam folder. This has always worked for me so far.
I can just copy my Railworks folder back to steam and then steam verfies the Railworks folder and then when it is finished I can play the game(Works on my PC:s) but now when I wanted to do it on my laptop it did not work.
I installed the game yesterday from Steam and started the game and it worked. The only thing I got was Texture Missing when the TSC screen showed up but then after around 30 seconds the normal screen showed up. I have a lot more DLC(RSSLO)on my external SSD. The thing when I start install it says not enough space even that I only have the railworks folder on the SSD(I have 1 TB is space on the SSD). The railworks folder on my external SSD are 638 Gb. It shall not bother as I have put the railworks folder in the common folder on Steam. It shall verify the railworks folder and not say that I have not enough space.
I have had this problem. Steam uses a temporary folder on the drive steam is installed to. So you can have several drives with lots of free space but steam will report not enough free space if the main drive is full.
