Is there any settings I can change that would help with having less blurriness and washed out look. Thanks.
I only mainly get on on Mildmay on PS5 when all layers are on. Switching off the ones you can't see from the cab eliminates it. It's probably something that would work on other routes. The other suggestion is switching from 4k to 1080p.
Sorry for the blunt answer, but no there isn’t. It’s an on going problem with the Xbox. No monitor/tv setting can fix that on console. Not sure if it’s still a problem on PC, but PC has more graphic options. Disabling DLSS, DSR and turning off anti-analysing whilst playing at 1080p and not 4K would probably help? I don’t play TSW on PC so I wouldn’t know. I don’t get in-cab/train blur myself on the PS5 Pro, Base PS5 I did. Since the Pro has a bigger GPU that could be why.
HD mode looks so bad, it's not only a lower resolution, also AA is worse and details are missing. I'm playing on a 24" FHD monitor, but even on a smaller monitor it don't look good. Other games on 1080p are just fine. Maybe it's less noticable if your play on TV from a distance. On this moment I prefer to play TSW2 and older routes on 4K, as those look better then newer route on HD mode. Since TOD4 lighting, performance is becoming an issue more and more.
The problem is coming from TSW lauching DLC after DLC, but not much attention being given to performance or optimization. Depending on which route you have problem with you can/must do the following, creators club is nice with some stunning liveries that players have created, but if you are struggling with fuzzy textures then the custom liveries have to go, sorry. Secondly you can take a look at the layers, which layers do you want and which can you do without. You can tweek it by turning off 1 layer, then trying it and then if you are not happy turn off another layer, rinse and repeat till you get to a performance you are happy with it.
1. What platform are you on, PC or Console? 2. If you are on PC does your PC build match at least minimum settings? 3. Gen 8 or Gen 9 (GEN 8 PS4/ PS4 pro Xbox one) Gen 9 PS5, PS5 pro and XBox Series X / S) 4 What route do you get the blurriness on? That would help give us some clue at whats going on. There is an ongoing issue with in TSW 5 for Consoles thats causing texture blurriness and is still being invesdtgated & resolved by DTG. Cheers Hentis

TSW2 was flawless and was probably the most stable TSW game to date, it started going down hill from there. It definitely plays a part yeah when it comes to what monitor/tv you use. My 65” tv has a lot of Ai real time learning tools that adjust the picture in real time, also whilst having VRR and 120hz. All in all it really helps especially for console gaming. My PC monitor is nothing special. A 32” LG 165hz UHD. TSW I tend to play it on HD rather than 4K as I get better performance, that’s more important to me. Just like with console gaming, performance mode over quality mode.
The reason I'm playing on a monitor is VRR. Xbox has AMD FreeSync with LFC implemented, so a good VRR monitor is not that expensive and solves a lot of stuttering issues because of unstable framerates. But as you're close to the monitor, you will notice poor graphics earlier. One thing I noticed when playing TSW2 routes on TSW2 and TSW5, TSW5 seems less stuttery in busy stations for example. So it seems they did some optimization, I didn't test the differences between TSW2 and TSW4, so maybe they already managed it in a earlier version. On the moment I don't buy and play TSW3 routes and newer anymore. I really need to see some real positives changes in performance and how HD mode looks, before considering to buy newer routes.
Currently it's Mildmay. I am on PS5. But thats the one that gives alot of blurry textures and crashes. But I have now deactivate certain class 700, Class 395 and 801 layers as to be honest you dont generally see them as you are driving along and to be honest a waste on resources. But in my stream on Thursday and I will add for the first time I suffered a blurry 801 on the Eastcoast mainline. This was the KWA Cargo Line Vol 4 timetable and not the Normal or reduced timetables. I have never had blurry textures running the 801 on the ECML normal timetable. I think Frankfurt Fulda is another route I get it on occasionally. I also choose not to drive with dynamic weather as it has various issues on certain memory intensive routes like Mildmay & Frankfurt Fulda. Well a few weeks ago Matt mentioned they had about five or more engineers looking into it and this is one of the reason why they have asked for Beta testers. So hopefully it will be sorted. Cheers Hentis
Yea mildmay is by far the worst one me but when I play next im turn off layers like you said see if that helps.
I turned off the wcml and 700 layers and its almost perfect whole no blurriness a little bit when I got to Stratford.
