I’m having trouble with Boston sprinter and wondering if I’m missing something or if this is a flaw with the game. Plays fine with safety systems off. With safety systems on I find it basically impossible to meet the schedule because ACSES is constantly throwing me 30-45mph speed limits (vs like 60-80 track limit) and going that slow quickly makes me 4-5 min behind schedule which only gets worse as time goes on. Am I missing something or is this timetable just broken with safety systems on?
It's broken with systems on. The systems are basically being too cautious and looking really far ahead, causing you to be at 30 even if the rest of the track is clear. It was being looked at but it proved to be difficult and given that we still haven't gotten an update, it's unlikely to be fixed any time soon.
Ok thanks. This was my fav route when I didn’t use safety systems… and then when I started using safety systems I stopped playing it because of this issue. Now a year later I wanted to try it out again but still same problem. It seems like ACSES/ATC work fine to keep schedule in Harlem Line so hopefully they look at Boston again sometime.
Like mentioned previously, the system is overly cautious and slows you down too early. Additionally, the timetable isn't really programmed with the "dispatch beyond instruction" option ticked, meaning that signals beyond your station stop aren't reserved. In the case of stopping at Providence, this means the signals at Brayton (just west of the platforms) is always at Stop. When I built this route and timetable in 2019, all of this was properly accounted for but it unfortunately wasn't able to work as intended when released to the public.
