Good Afternoon Everyone, I thought I'd share my suggestions for a couple of train packs for the Boston Sprinter DLC... ________________________________________________________________________________________ MBTA MotivePower Train Pack MPI HSP46 MPI MP36PH-3C Hyundai Rotem BTC-4D Bilievel Coach Hyundai Rotem CTC-5 Bilievel Cab Car Scenarios... 3 Tutorial: One each for the locomotives, one for the cab car 3 Main: One inbound to Boston with the cab car, one outbound to Providence with the MP36, one outbound to Staughton with the HSP46 Notably absent from the Boston Sprinter DLC are the iconic bilevel cars used by the MBTA. The MBTA has a mixed fleet, with sets manufactured both by Kawasaki and Hyundai. I believe adding the bilevel coaches to the DLC would bring excellent operational and AI variety, along with the transit agency's two models of MPI locomotives. While the HSP46 would need to be a new model, the MP36PH could be converted from the pre-existing CalTrain model with (hopefully) little effort. This collection would add hours of services for players to enjoy, as well as wonderful variety to watch as you blow by stopped commuter trains in an ACS. 1024px-MBTA_2001_at_CRMF,_October_2013 by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 12:24 PM MBTA_locomotive_010_at_Buzzards_Bay_on_CapeFLYER_trial_run by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 12:24 PM MBTA_1824_at_South_Station,_May_2017_(Trainpix_196370) by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 12:24 PM Photos Courtesy of Wikipedia Commons ________________________________________________________________________________________ MBTA GP40MC Commuter Pack GMD GP40MC Bombardier BTC-1B Coach Bombardier CTC-1B Cab Car Scenarios... 2 Tutorial: One each for the locomotive and cab car 3 Main: One each inbound and outbound, one inbound from Staughton Before the F40s, the MBTA relied on a fleet of GP40MCs built by GMD in Canada. First rebuilt in the late 90's, the units are currently undergoing yet another overhaul for continued use, a testament to GMD's build quality. A passenger derivative of the EMD GP40, these units have been bringing passengers in and out of Bean Town for decades and are a common sight in the area. To go with the locomotive, I suggest the MBTA's single level Bombardier equipment, a more modern version of the current MBB stock in the game. This model of Bombardier commuter coach has seen use across the United States and Canada, and the asset could be used for other commuter railroads with minor modification (Metro-North, for example). 1024px-PTC_test_train_at_Littleton_station,_May_2019 by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 2:10 PM MBTA_cab_car_1633_at_Rockport by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 2:10 PM Photos Courtesy of Wikipedia Commons ________________________________________________________________________________________ Massachusetts Millennials Train Pack Amtrak Bombardier-Alstom HHP-8 Amtrak EMD AEM-7 (Phase V Livery) Amtrak Amfleet II (Phase V "Acela" Livery) Scenarios... 2 Tutorial: One each for both locomotives 3 Main: One inbound for the AEM-7, one outbound for the HHP-8, and one rescue from Southampton Street Yard (rescue failed HHP using an AEM, and finish the service before yarding the failed engine) Return to Boston in the year 2000. The Acela Express trainsets are making their introduction along with a new locomotive. AEM-7s are still going strong, and Amfleets wear a new "wavy" paint scheme based off the incoming trainsets. This pack is inspired by the Diesel Legends of the Great Western DLC and would transport players to a time before ACS locomotives were the primary motive power on the Corridor. This pack would make for a colorful nostalgia trip to a time not so long ago! Based on European designs, passengers travel in style, reaching their city destinations quickly and without the hassle of traffic or airport security. These trains are and will be America's premier high speed trains, and deserve representation in TSW. 800px-Acela_overhead_view by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 3:06 PM Avelia_Liberty_Newark,_DE by R3DWolf91 posted Mar 15, 2022 at 3:06 PM Photos Courtesy of Wikipedia Commons ________________________________________________________________________________________ Any of these suggestions would be welcome additions to the game, and bring incredible life into the Boston Sprinter DLC. Thank you for your consideration!
Really excellent idea from what I can see the Acela Express can also be sold as a Rush Hour train pack with UK Class 700 BML Riesa-Dresden ICE-T or DB BR146.0 mix traffic version the DB BR 145
I am friends with someone who lives along this route. Unfortunately, he's told me that the MP36 and GP40 are almost never seen on this route. Nowadays it is just the F40PH-3Cs and HSP46s. Geeps are now usually running on the Northern lines. Since MBTA only owns 2 MP36s, this means they are very uncommon on the MBTA network. You would probably only get a couple services with the MP36. I do really like the idea of a classic timetable pack for this route with the AEM7 and HHP8. Would bring two instant classics into the game
I think the Hsp46 locomotive would definitely be on a future Dlc for Boston sprinter hopefully sometime soon I would definitely love to do some scenarios with the Hsp46 locomotive sometime soon in the future.
My line of thought with the MP36 was that the locomotive is already in game, and with the minor steps involved with reskinning and making any minor cosmetic and operational tweaks, why not? If it adds more value to the customer and gives DTG an excuse to charge a little more for a relatively easy ROI, I'd say go for it. As far as the Geep, it's something I'd like to see but not a huge need. More or less it'd be an excuse to bundle in a locomotive with some Comet-style commuter coaches. As I mentioned in the first post, those Bombardier coaches are/were a pretty common sight, although they are certainly getting to the point where they're being phased out by various roads for bi- and multi- level cars. Even if they're not as common as the other units on the south side, is anyone really going to complain about some unique and classic EMD power to play with? I'm honestly surprised they went with the F40 and the MBB coaches. You certainly see the bilevels out on the southern lines more often, and the HSPs are just as common as the F40s, as ugly as they are lol.
