Hi, I have a question about the new route. Between Framingham and Worcester there is cab signalling. Between Boston and Framingham, however, there is still the "old" signalling system with wayside signals. My question is, is there a website (or something else) somewhere where all aspects of the signalling system are explained?
Yes, the MBTA uses NORAC. You can find the latest rulebook for that online. If you have specific questions about the signal system, just ask. I scripted the signals for this route.
Loving the route so far! I got an ACSES penalty brake application as I was finishing a Boston-Framingham service (was right before a red signal and i was braking but probably going a little too fast). How do you reset the cab in the HSP-46 afterwards? It's not in the tutorial and sadly i'm not seeing a manual. I tried all my usual tricks to no avail and even cutting out safety systems and using the "reset physics" wouldn't stop the beeping, so i ended up quitting instead of doing the run back to Boston. Hope it's just something stupid i'm doing lol
What worked for me was removing the reverser and reinstalling it. That seemed to reset the system. On that early stop at the end of the run, believe that is ATC doing that, since it controls signaling speeds.
Should just be setting throttle to idle, brake handle to Suppression, and acknowledging. I havent played much honestly
The feature is called ACSES Positive Train Stop and i dont think it is implemented 100% accurately but it's what we've got
Thanks for the reply i'll try that if it happens again- i was only going like 8mph so i didn't think of moving to suppression first before acknowledging.
I thought putting Throttle into Idle and putting brake to around 65% (which is usually when Permanent suppression light comes on), and acknowledging is enough... but apparently not... got a penalty when approaching Worcester, with Restricted and 20 mph, put brakes into like 70% and acknowledging, but still the beeping continued, and eventually got penalty - had to put brakes into Suppression (after Full), and back to release, then rev to notch 4 or so to keep moving will have to do more runs with F40PH to see if there is a bug or I am just stupid
I know I was talking about a penalty application (which I got even though I was doing what I was supposed to), but I managed to recover while still moving ... I read about that method in some older thread about F40PH, and put it to use
Just starting on the Boston-Worcester route and am getting notice that I have to turn on the battery before moving the train but the batter switch is already in the on position. What am I missing?
Not got the route but with scenarios, sometimes the scripting goes skew whiff. Or it wasn’t play tested adequately. Have you tried turning the battery off then back on again to progress the objective?
I turned off the battery and the whole engine dropped dead. Not wanting to cold start I replayed the scenario. On the other hand, when I ignored the warning the train moved off just fine so I am a bit confused.
Check the “Egg crates” screen to see if the PCS valve is tripped (red instead of green). If the PCS light is on, throw the automatic brake handle to suppression/ handle off. (Usually suppression will reset the PCS, then you can release brakes).
