Hello - I love the BR Class 101 but the only route I have for it is the Tees Valley Line: Darlington – Saltburn-by-the-Sea Route Add-On Is there a way to drive this train on any other routes? Kind bored of this one and I love this train thanks
ah well I did just find the Northern Trans-Pennine: Manchester - Leeds Route Add-On that seems to include the 101 so I DL that
Blackpool allows you to use the 101 on the same services as the include Pacer if you own Tees Valley, plus it has a handful of three car services added in as well. Would highly recommend it if you're interested in more 101 services, very nicely detailed route, and has a heavy focus on the commuter trains. As you've already noticed the NTP includes the 101 as well, and would definitely give that a consideration as well. Not as detailed as Blackpool, but since it's older it will be likely much cheaper when on sale than Blackpool. One other pack I haven't seen mention here yet is Diesel Legends of the Great Western, it's a timetable pack for Great Western Express. Contains the 08, 101, and BR Blue Class 52, so that might be worth considering as well. That said it needs to be kept in mind that it needs the route to function, plus said route is a modern route, so while the timetable itself is set in the 70's the route itself still looks modern. Personally I've never felt the urge to buy it, but if you're less picky than I am it's still a valid DLC if you're looking to get more 101 action.
If you wait until the 21st of November there will be another route with it too: WCML from JT. In the meantime, Northern Trans-Pennine and Blackpool Branches would both be good additions.
Correct about DLOGW, though of course a bit of a fudge as the Class 101’s were only allocated to Reading fairly late on and were primarily to supplement the dwindling number of Class 119’s on the North Downs rather than working Thames Valley suburban services.
If I already have the 101 from other DLC can I just buy the "Train Sim World® 4 Compatible: Great Western Express Route Add-On" and use it? Or do I need both that and the Diesel Legends of the Great Western ?
You need both Great Western Express and Diesel Legends. Diesel Legends does not work without the GWE route as DLoGW is just a timetable add-on.
yeah I kinda knew that would be the case. Damn they really hammer you with these addons - come on sale!
well I also found out that with the scenario planner you can have any train on any route! Here my 101 in the Swiss Alps! how hilarious is that
The Diesel Legends 101 also has slight visual modifications, aside from destination blinds showing locations on the GWR they'll also have the Unit numbers on the driving cabs as well.
