Hi, FinnTD here, im back again with a suggestion, this time we are talking about the British Rail Class 108, this not the first time I did, but the last time I did was over a year ago, and I feel like now the Class 108 would make a Very Great Addition to the Classic British Roster, so im here again to Talk about this fine Class of DMUs,

    Class 108A.jpg

    --About the DMU--

The Class 108s are a Class of 2, 3, and 4 car DMUs constructed by BR Derby between 1958 and 1961, a total of 333 vehicles were built for Eastern Region and Midland region,
These units had Aluminum Steel Bodies and Underframes, thanks to this and the 150hp Leyland Engines coupled to a 4-speed Gearbox gave the Units a Greater Power-Weight Ratios in comparison to its Contemporaries, like the Class 101,
These units Initially had 2-character Headcode Indicator mounted under the Central Cab window,
Units built 1960 and Onward would have 4-character Headcode indicators mounted Above the Cab,

An Example of a 4-character headcode unit,
    Class 108B.jpg

    --Operations--

These units remained in service till 1993 and during their service lives these units went just about Everywhere,
The First Batch of Class 108s, which came in 2, 3, and 4-Car units, where sent to the Eastern Region,
These units would proceed to Operate out of Depots like Neville Hill, Hull Botanical Gardens, and Darlington Sheds,
The Later Batches, which were Exclusively 2-Car, would go the LMR, and work just about anywhere a DMU was Needed,
Scottish Units were Allocated from LMR Units in the 60s, and Operate right up to the End, except for the few units that transferred away
Later on, around 1984 as other classes were Being Withdrawn Class 108s would go to many Places around England and be found in just about every Nook and Cranny where they were not before,
Even to this day, in Preservation, Many Class 108 sets still Operate and remain Popular on Preservation Railways, with many of them being well taken care of,

--Its role in TSW, and its Potential Impact--
Well now its time for the part you might have been waiting for, What it Brings to Train Sim World,
I Will be talking about routes currently Released,
For the Routes these can be used on, and potentially get Scenarios for Includes, NTP, TVL, and SoS,
For routes they can simple be used in the Timetable of, WSR, DL and WCL, when it comes to DL and WCL I could not definitively conclude whether or not they have been on these routes, but it would be cool anyways,
For its Impact on the game, its quite simple, the Addition of this Class could Balloon into the Inclusion of Similar looking Classes, which include the Class 107s, 114s, 115s, 116s, 117s, 118s, 119s, 121s, 122s, 125s, and 127s, at this point just make a loco pack including all of these there are so many and i would probably buy them all, and it would start with a simple Addition, the Class 108s

And thats why the Class 108s should be added to Train Sim World,
I Have acquired all my Information from Railcar.uk, I Recommend you go there and read up on these units yourself, Class 108 DMU (railcar.co.uk),
I hope you enjoyed this Suggestion, I'm FinnTD, and ill be back when I feel like it

Yes to all of the 1st generation dmus. Surprised that we currently only have the 101 when there were around 30 classes in the TOPS era, each with their own quirks.

You lost me at "simple addition"... making a loco or MU in TSW is patently NOT simple
I agree we need more DMUs and especially ones used all over the place which will help "fill out" timetables on multiple regions as and when we get them

I would imagine he is thinking get the 101 and make it into a 108 as they look similar on the exterior but I agree that loco building ISN'T a simple addition, finntd#7891, it is in fact a more advanced procedure in doing so, think how long the BR420 from TSG is taking as the developer wants to nail everything to impress both us and DTG with this specific DLC :)

Hopefully people on this forum don't think along those lines. Just think of the uproar from certain quarters if all they did was reskin the 101 to a 108... I can hear the people saying "But the 108 was 10 seconds faster to 30 than the 101... I must refund the entire game right now!" ;)

I agree with you, the 108 is an entirely different train to the 101 so instead of using the wrong train, build the correct train with the correct features of that class of train :)
