Hello all, today i’m going to be making a suggestion to DTG for the highly requested BR Class 700 EMU. Code for this Add-On 3.GBC-L7 01 About the train The british rail class 700 is a dual voltage electrical multiple unit operated by GTR for its Thameslink services. They are capable of operating on both 750V DC 3rd rail, seen in the southern region, aswell as 25kv Overheard line equipment, seen on both the MML & ECML. These units have a maximum speed of 100mph (161kmh) and are a part of the ‘desiro city’ family of trains, built by Siemens. They come in 2 subclasses, the /0 & /1, with their key difference being their coach formation. The 700/0s are 8 coaches in length, whilst the 700/1s have an extra 4 coaches than the /0, making them 12 coaches in length. These trains operate on high capacity metro routes in and around the capital aswell as commuter services up to the likes of Peterborough, Cambridge, Bedford, and the occasional trips to Ely & Kings Lynn though these aren’t as common. South of London, they can be seen operating metro services around the capital, aswell as in the areas of Brighton, Littlehampton, Sevenoaks and in the future Ashford International. Routes for the class 700 The addition of this modern emu would add multiple services to the existing routes of both London Commuter (BML) and Southeastern High Speed. On the BML, the Class 700 is seen operating frequent services between London Bridge and Brighton, Horsham, Three Bridges & sometimes even off to Littlehampton. The addition of this train would also allow realistic use of the depot at Three Bridges, meaning it would finally be populated rather than being empty. The class 700 would add much needed variety to the route in TSW3 aswell as many many more services on top of the already bustling timetable there is on offer. Now onto SEHS, this train would be an ideal addition as when DTG extended this route, they left out thameslink services from the timetable therefore meaning with this add on, it could be nicely slotted in adding even more variety and services to this wonderful route. A thing i’d like to see personally, is the addition of AI only services at Ashford International from when these trains were being delivered from Dollands Moor to both Three Bridges & Hornsey Depots. These came in the form of both drags and ECS moves, all at night and would be cool to see added for that extra feature. Here’s a link to a video of one of these rare movements: As for the future in TSW, this train could be added onto potential new routes in the future such as the ECML South, MML south and other parts of the Thameslink Network. Features of the Class 700 Features i’d like to see on the BR Class 700 would be: A working GSM-R (wether that’s fully functional or partially functional-seen on the 323) SDO (selective door opening) Possibly announcements - however i would personally prefer that if the authentic ones could not be included, i’d prefer to have none at all Animations on the in cab monitoring screens Authentic PIS displays in carriage, showing the same information as real life rather than a bad replica/standard DMI screen Ability to change the destination display on the front/sides of the train Special Liveries (700111-NHS, 700155 - Pride) Conclusion Overall, this loco/train DLC would be one of the most popular yet, as it has been highly requested by the community since the release of not even just the BML, but even the original SEHS. I feel like that with this train, it’s more a case of not if, but when, and so i hope this could be the final push to get this much needed train into TSW3. Thanks all for reading, if you have any extra suggestions to add to this then please do so below.
I’ve decided to add some potential scenarios to the dlc suggestion so here we are. SEHS Scenarios: Thames linking - Difficulty Lvl 1 Take this 700/0 from Dartford to Rainham on its final stretch of its passenger service from Luton. You’ll be stopping at all stations, and the weather is fairly pleasant with light clouds and green signals aplenty. November Nights - Difficulty Lvl 3 Drive this 700/0 as a passenger service from Rainham to Dartford, following a southeastern stopping service, then when you get to Dartford you must change ends and bring the train into Dartford Up sidings for night time stabling in the form of an ECS move. Early Oddities - Difficulty Lvl 2 An odd appearance in the medway towns this morning, a 700/1 as been brought down overnight to Gillingham depot due to the original 700/0 failing on route, so you’ve got an extra 4 coaches for this mornings run. Take this 12 coach unit out of gillingham depot and into gillingham as an ecs, where you’ll then form a passenger service over to dartford. As you’ll have more coaches, you may need to use SDO as your train may hang off of some platforms. Despite the odd train formation, the weathers looking lovely with the orange sunrise and plenty of traffic about, so do watch out for signals. London Commuter (BML) Scenarios Desiro Diversions - Difficulty Lvl 3 Due to heavy snowfall and damaged tracks on the usual route up to London Bridge, you’ll be diverted up to London Victoria today. Starting at Brighton, you’ll take this 700/1 all the way up the mainline stopping at your usual stopping pattern until ECR, where you’ll diverge up to Victoria via clapham junction. Due to adverse weather, rail head conditions and visibility aren’t the best, however you’ll have a clear run until you reach ECR, where traffic increases and you’ll be following a southern service so watch those signals. Taking Pride - Difficulty Lvl 2 It’s a sunny morning on June the 1st, and you’ve been assigned the job off driving the first train of the day, which is 700155 in pride livery. You’ll take this unit out of Three Bridges Maintenance Depot up to Gatwick Airport as ECS move, where you’ll then change ends and form a passenger service down to Brighton for later pride events and celebrations. You’ll be following a stopping service up to gatwick during your ecs move but you’ll have a nice clear path down to brighton with plenty of clear aspects and AI traffic. Key Workers Workings - Difficulty Lvl 1 It’s lockdown 2020 and all is quiet, but trains are still running for the much needed key workers. You’ll drive unit 700111 in it’s wonderful NHS Key workers livery from Brighton as far as East Croydon on its run up to London Bridge. There’s sunny skys on this early spring afternoon with not too much traffic about due to low demands for trains. Showery Shuntings - Difficulty Lvl 2 In this scenario you’ll be taking this 700/0 unit out of service at Three Bridges and moving it into the Depot, and then moving it into the maintenance shed. Once done, you’ll then have to put a 700/1 unit into service from the sidings into Three Bridges Station for passenger service. There’s heavy showers today so be careful on the power and the brakes when moving these trains about.
If we got Thames Link DLC for Southeastern high speed it would come with the North Kent line and London commuter would come with London bridge to Horsham (maybe)
Excellent idea if you want to make it why not Bundle it with Deutsche Bahn Baureihe 411 ICE-T Acela Express as the Rush hour train pack. TSW3 Rush Hour bundle pack base game plus Rush Hour routes and trains.
anyone who saw/liked this thread can now be pleased to know the 700 will be added very soon, albeit the /0 variant for SEHS.
Excellent idea but it should be 3.GK-L7 01 because class 700 is electric dual voltage 25kv 50hz and 750v DC Third Rail Top Contact k is electric multi voltage.
I hope we get dartford-Luton extension add-on for southeastern high speed that includes class 700 /707?.
Correct and for that one it should tease the DB BR411 ICE-T if applicable. I can see this happing TSW 3 Rush Hour Deluxe edition contains NEC Boston Acela SEH BML Class 700 & Riesa-Dresden ICE-T. Here's a post by trainsimplayer about NEC Acela Express BML Class 700 & ICE-T Riesa-Dresden from that teaser they are headed towards that
