Hello, I've just bought the DB BR101 loco add-on, and it's quite enjoyable. I am currently running the full length Intercity services on HRR, Duisburg to Bochum or vice versa. I noticed something odd in this timetable. I load passengers at Duisburg, close the doors, and then have to wait for several minutes on a red light. The light is to allow another train that starts at Duisburg, down the same mainline, towards Essen. This train is either an RB or an RE (146 with Dostos), and has several stops along the way. I can't pass it until we get to Essen, and must slow down significantly along the way. My question is: is this a realistic scenario, where an Intercity is held up intentionally behind a slower train? If anyone wants to see what I mean, look at IC 2453 Duisburg Hbf to Bochum Hbf at 17:22. Cheers!
At a guess, I would say that this is an artifact of the 101 being a DLC, added to the route after release. Therefore they had to fit it inside the existing timetable, not rewrite the TT from scratch around it, and that led to certain unrealistic situations in dispatcher priority. Having said that, there are cases where a local would get priority over an express
