Does anyone have any tips on driving this loco. I'm struggling to keep to the speed limit either too fast or too slow thanks.

Depends on the route and the train you're hauling for me.
On routes with steep gradients like Mittenwaldbahn I drive it in direct tap-changer-mode, Auf-Ab-Schaltung. It needs fine adjustments for that route.
On Salzburg - Rosenheim I use the tractive effort mode, Z-Steuerung. Works for me.
Also you have to anticipate speed changes in either mode since it's always a tap-changer at work; in one mode you control it directly like on its predecessor BR 110.3, in the other mode electronics operate the tap-changer for you. It needs its time to change down to zero before you can apply the rheostatic brake that helps on steep routes like Mittenwaldbahn, so think ahead, use the route monitor HUD, since there's no working EBuLa on two versions and no EBuLa at all on the backdated Mittenwaldbahn version.

Where do you see a 9 on the brake?
Maybe a screenshot would be helpful.

Oh, since I'm on PC I haven't used that HUD in ages.
If the brake lever is set to release and the brakes are cut in, I'd disregard that value in the HUD.
Sorry, I can't be more helpful with that.
