For my next Branch Line Mini Pack suggestion I am going into detail on the Brentford branch in both present day and pre 1939 forms. The Brentford branch line, also known as the Brentford Dock Line, is a freight-only branch railway line in west London, England. The route, which opened in 1859, was backed by the Great Western Railway and built by the Great Western & Brentford Railway Company. It ran 4 mi (6.4 km) from Southall to Brentford Dock. In 1964, the line to the wharves was closed. The branch now runs from the Great Western Main Line to a goods yard and waste transfer station in Brentford. Passenger services completely ceased in 1942. Brentford branch line map showing original and current extremities. Southall Station, early 1980s. Platform right of center of frame is the now unused Brentford platform. A DB Class 66 at Brentford Waste Terminal.
Some images of the line as it once was. Trumpers Crossing Halte. The long gone bridge across the A30 Great West Road with Firestone Tyre Works on the right, which had their own sidings. Brentford GWR station being served by Autotrain prior to WW2. A small portion of Brentford Docks extensive trackwork.
