You know it’s 2025 and google translate is a thing so I don’t know why this rule is still in place, especially know one of the community managers is a German speaker. To me it’s weird to exclude a large section of the community who are none English speakers. In answer to the OP, it’s not on the roadmap so DTG wouldn’t say yes regardless even if it was in development. I suggest you head over to the suggestion forum and make your case for the route there!
redrev1917, I agree with you, anytime I see something other than English, just left click, then translate in the dropdown.
We don’t want the place turning into the Tower Of Babel. DTG have clearly stated English is the chosen language for the forum and it also happens to be the international language of common communication, ATC. However I could see maybe there could be a case for a German language specific sub forum perhaps but AFAIK Jan is the only native German speaker on staff. With the boot on the other foot, I wouldn’t go on to a non English forum and start posting in English, I’d either use Google Translate to get my message across or not bother.
I mean on one hand, google translate exists and could be used as a tool to translate posts like this… but on the other, currently English is the predominant global lingua franca, and most online forums recognize as such in an effort to keep the majority of the forum engaged.
Also worth noting that many people browse here on tablets rather than PCs, I highlighted the text, pressed translate, then got asked whether I wanted to download the 'german language pack', no idea if that would have taken a lot of space, but I chose not to. I would never want to discourage anyone who doesn't speak English, but it would be useful if the person typing in non-English adds the translated text underneath their question, rather than expect everyone else reading it to translate it individually.
Nein, das weiß höchstens Dovetail Games selber. "Was nicht auf der Roadmap steht, gibt es nicht", so geht das alte Sprichwort...
I personally would love the Brenner in TSW, but it isn't really known if it is ever coming to TSW. Weird that the main topic was ignored, but lets get back on-topic, no?
Small consolation: last year I equipped the ÖBB 1116 with a special "150 Jahre Brennerbahn" livery for the Creators Club. DTG will certainly be focusing on the Netherlands at the moment, as Austria can now be reached three times across the border and has a completely dedicated route with the Semmeringbahn. I think DTG Jan was even a train conductor for the ÖBB on this route for a few years.
If they ever do the Brenner, they had better bloody well get the two castles on either side right. No "generic castle asset", please!
