As Erich Mielke once famously said "I love - I love - all train simulators".

Having divided my time between TSW2 and Zusi, I have today revisited Train Simulator Classic (as I believe it is now called). Having seen a few YouTube videos about the Brennitzer Linienstern, I couldn't resist.

All I can say is, I wasn't disappointed. Having lived a lot of my life in Germany, this route really captures the essence of Germany. From the rusted bridges to the graffiti which seems to pervade all German railway lines, it just makes you feel as if you are there. TSW has come a long way (especially with Dresden - Riesa and the Tharander Rampe), but for some reason, it all looks very American. It doesn't make you feel like you are in Germany!!!!

Zusi graphics are very divisive. At first I was very disappointed, but now I appreciate them. When I use Zusi (which is still my main simulator) I still feel like I am there.

To cut it short, give the Brennitzer route a go!. It has a great range of drives, and the quick drive works really well (including announcements).

I sometime feel that the hardcore fans here get hung up on rivets not being in the right place, or the PIS not being 100% accurate, but to me, the feeling of being there is more important, and Brennitzer Linienstern has captured Germany as I remember it!
