With the Class 66 being the only modern freight locomotive in the game, I think we're all getting a bit tired of it and we need more different classes. The ones I think we need are: Class 56: multiple liveries from their introduction to present day, from Railfreight to EWS and Freightliner. Class 60: same as above but also could include DB and GBRF. Class 67: intended for mail trains but ended up with 'thunderbird' duties and do passengers with Chiltern and a couple of others. Class 68: can be done with DRS and Transpennine Express for both freight and passenger service, could include the nuclear flask trains. Class 70: Britain's most powerful freight locomotive, could be done with either Freightliner or Colas Rail. Class 90: Can be done for both passenger and freight, such as with Intercity, Virgins 'pretendolino', Railfreight, EWS and Freightliner.
Frequently requested and frequently ignored by DTG and their associates. SHG stated a little while ago they were refused access to a Class 60 for research purposes which is a bit of a downer. However any or all of the above need to be in the game to relieve the drab monotony of the Class 66, particularly if the older fleets are being wound down, vital to grab data and secure recordings before they end up in the scrapyard.
New freight locomotives are long overdue. Totally agree with OldVern that research opportunities are becoming more scarce with each passing month due to withdrawal and scrapping of older classes. So many missed and ignored opportunities that would really make TSW all that it deserves to be. As a side note, OP did not include the Class 68 for Chiltern Railways services as this type is now the motive power having replaced the Class 67 some years ago. The interim period as 67s were swapped for 68s would be nice for a future Chiltern route although I also like the idea of a older version during the reign of the Class 115s even though it was run down and under used in that era. However, I digress. More freight locomotives are a must right now so please please please, can someone start delivering some.
I believe there are already some Stadler Euro/Eurodual locos in service in UK, tho I cant remember the class designation... that loco would be awesome... anyway, I know this config isnt featured very often in UK freight services, but I will ask anyway (since I have seen it happen as part of some scenarios and services included in Cargo Line packs) - if you have two (or possibly more) 66s on one train... how do you set up the lead and the other loco?
Stadler locomotives are classes 68, 88, 93 and 99. 68s are diesel, 88 are AC electric and 93 and 99 are tri and dual mode respectively. All 4 are based on the Eurodual/Eurolight platform.
Just trains created one for TSC so they might have the info on this loco to bring it to TSW? From this we can get the class69. But yes more freight loco's would be a welcome addition.
TSW Needs to stop always putting the class 66 for every UK Routes, they need to add new freight locos please DTG please Btw I did suggest some freight locos a few months ago https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/class-99-for-tsw5.89473/ https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/class-88.89420/
A 56 would be a most welcome loco as would a 60. I’ve lost count of the posts from people saying they’re tired of the 66. Myself included.
I’d value the class 56 along side a Valenta HST or Deltic - I’m aware the latter two are not freight locomotives. AP has soundpacks for all of these so presumably real life access would not be a requirement. Getting tired of suggesting them so I don’t hold out much hope they will ever be picked up.
I believe Matt P did state a while ago why they aren't doing more UK freight locos at the moment.. If I remember correctly, he stated that the Class 66 handles all/most of the freight diagrams on most/all routes in the UK so he can't see the reason to bring in more UK freight locomotives but please don't quote me
I think that's pretty illogical and just a cover up not to make new locos, 66s don't go absolutely everywhere, there are alot of cases where intermodals are done by 90s now so why not bring them into the game especially now having the Freightliner license why would they have it for no reason
If it requires effort and development from scratch I doubt you'll get it unless a decent 3rd party like Just Trains are interested.
I feel like JT would make an 1970s/early 80s ECML route just so we can have the Deltic in game so I second this
Add a Class 58 to the list. The Stadler Class Euro dual and Euro-light units would be awesome too. The nuclear flask trains with the Class 68 would be a great addition to the UK Freight Packs DLCs that have been recently released.
